Sample interview questions
I would begin with a territory assessment covering installed base, whitespace, target verticals, partner coverage, competitive position, and pipeline quality. I would then set country-level priorities, account segmentation, capacity plans, partner plays, and measurable leading indicators for pipeline creation, conversion, and forecast accuracy. Regular operating reviews would allow the plan to be adjusted based on market feedback and performance.
I use MEDDPICC as a management system rather than a checklist. In deal reviews, I validate quantified metrics, the economic buyer, decision criteria and process, procurement path, pain, champion strength, and competitive position; gaps become documented actions with owners and dates. This improves forecast quality by distinguishing genuine customer progress from optimistic seller activity.
I would inspect the pipeline by stage, source, customer profile, qualification quality, and loss reasons to identify the actual bottleneck. I would then coach specific behaviors, such as stronger discovery, multithreading, executive alignment, mutual action plans, or partner engagement, and role-play critical conversations. We would track a small set of leading indicators and revisit progress in regular one-on-ones and deal reviews.
I focus on mutual value creation: clear target accounts, joint solution plays, defined roles, shared pipeline visibility, enablement, and executive sponsorship. I establish governance for account mapping and deal registration so that partners understand how they can win with us. I also measure partner-sourced and partner-influenced pipeline, conversion, and customer outcomes rather than relying solely on activity metrics.
I align the commercial conversation to the buyer's security priorities, business impact, desired outcomes, and decision process before discussing price. I build executive alignment, involve the appropriate technical, legal, finance, and partner stakeholders early, and use a mutual action plan to manage timing and risk. During negotiation, I protect value by trading concessions for meaningful commitments such as scope, term, references, or accelerated close dates.
