Sample interview questions
How would you help a learner who understands A/B testing theory but cannot design a useful experiment?

I would begin by clarifying the business objective and target user behavior, then help the learner form a measurable hypothesis. Together, we would define the primary metric, guardrail metrics, audience, variants, sample-size considerations, and decision criteria before launching the test.

Describe how you would explain funnel analysis to a beginner in product management.

I would frame a funnel as the sequence of actions users take to reach a desired outcome, such as sign-up through activation. I would ask the learner to calculate conversion at each step, identify the largest drop-off, and prioritize an investigation using qualitative feedback and behavioral data.

How do you maintain engagement in a remote learning community?

I use predictable office hours, prompt and encouraging forum responses, practical examples, and interactive activities such as teardown sessions, quizzes, and peer discussion prompts. I also recognize progress and redirect blockers quickly to the appropriate support channel.

A learner proposes reducing churn by adding many new features. How would you coach them?

I would encourage them to first segment churn and identify likely causes through cohort behavior, customer feedback, and usage data. Rather than assuming more features are the answer, I would help them prioritize a focused hypothesis that addresses the highest-impact retention driver.

How would you handle a question outside your area of expertise or outside the course scope?

I would acknowledge the question, clarify what I can answer reliably, and point the learner to relevant course resources or an appropriate support channel. If needed, I would escalate the issue to Mentor Operations while following up so the learner knows their request has been addressed.
