Sample interview questions
I would take a structured history of the condition, prior treatments, symptom burden, comorbidities, current medicines, mental-health and substance-use risks, and the patient's goals. I would explain the evidence limitations and potential benefits and harms, document shared decision-making, and prescribe only when the expected benefit and monitoring plan are clinically defensible.
I use a consistent virtual-assessment process that verifies identity, location, medical history, concurrent medicines, contraindications, safeguarding concerns, and escalation pathways. I document clearly, ensure patients understand red flags and follow-up arrangements, and involve the wider clinical team promptly when an in-person assessment or urgent review is needed.
I apply established clinical principles: critically appraise available evidence, follow relevant regulation and guidance, recognise uncertainty, and make decisions transparently with patients. I would also contribute carefully collected outcome data to help improve protocols and practice over time.
I would value their roles in preparation, medicines reconciliation, patient education, monitoring, and follow-up. I would provide clear clinical plans, remain available for escalation, and use regular feedback to make handovers, prescribing decisions, and patient communication safe and efficient.
I would communicate the decision empathetically and clearly, explain the clinical reasons and relevant risks, and ensure the patient feels heard. Where appropriate, I would discuss alternative management options, recommend follow-up with their usual treating clinicians, and document the assessment and advice comprehensively.
About this role.
Our patients have often tried everything. Years of appointments, medications that did not work, conditions that slowly took over their lives. By the time they reach us, many have run out of road with conventional treatment. You could be the clinician that changes that.
We are Montu UK, one of the UK’s largest medical cannabis clinics, and we are looking for Consultant Neurologists to join our clinical team.
About the role
You will assess and manage patients exploring cannabis based medicines, making the clinical call on whether treatment is appropriate and managing their care from there. This is still a young field. The evidence base is growing, best practice is being written in real time, and you will have a genuine hand in shaping it.
You do not need experience with cannabis based medicines. You need sound clinical judgement, an open mind and an interest in doing things differently. We provide full specialist training, and our multidisciplinary model means you are never working in isolation. Nurses and pharmacists handle pre consultation and follow up tasks, so your time is spent where it matters: with patients.
What you will be doing:
Providing high quality care for patients seeking medical cannabis treatment
Conducting patient consultations, including assessment and ongoing management
Contributing to clinical outcome data collection to support evidence based practice
Supporting clinical governance and maintaining robust standards of patient care
Working closely within a multidisciplinary team of nurses and pharmacists
Taking part in ongoing training and development, including bespoke specialist training in cannabis based medicines (CBPMs)
What you need:
Full GMC Registration
Completion of Specialist Training (CCST/CCT) or equivalent certification
On the GMC Specialist Register for Neurology
A genuine interest in alternative therapies
Willingness to participate in data collection and reporting
Why join us?
Highly competitive salary
Flexible working with full time or part time options
Comprehensive indemnity coverage. Montu covers all professional and clinical indemnity insurance for your work with us
Private healthcare scheme
No night shifts and no on call
CPD accredited medical cannabis education and specialist in house training from industry leaders
A collaborative multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals
The chance to be part of a pioneering field and shape the future of medical cannabis care in the UK
Training and development:
Attendance at a recognised Medical Cannabis Course for Specialist Physicians, sponsored by Montu
Specialist training delivered by experts
Ongoing support on clinical protocols, prescribing practices and Montu’s systems
Working arrangements:
Fully remote with flexible working hours and days
Standard sessions are 4 hours of patient consultations, and you choose your preferred days and hours
To support onboarding, we ask for a minimum commitment of 2 sessions per week (8 hours) initially, so you become confident with our platform
Appointments are 15 minutes for new and existing patients. Our multidisciplinary model means nurses and pharmacists handle pre consultation and follow up prescribing tasks, so Consultants focus on prescribing and patient care
