Sample interview questions
How have you advised a business launching products or services in multiple international jurisdictions?

I begin by mapping the launch model, data flows, target users, commercial partners, and applicable sector regulations for each market. I then prioritize material launch blockers, engage qualified local counsel where needed, and create practical guidance with clear ownership and timelines so stakeholders can move forward with managed risk.

Describe your approach to negotiating a SaaS, vendor, or partnership agreement involving sensitive personal data.

I focus on the commercial objective while ensuring the agreement clearly addresses permitted data use, security controls, incident notification, subprocessors, international transfers, audit rights, retention, and liability. I partner with privacy and security stakeholders early so the negotiated terms accurately reflect operational reality.

How would you support GDPR compliance for a fast-growing online healthcare or consumer platform?

I would assess the processing purposes, lawful bases, controller and processor roles, data-minimization practices, retention, transfer mechanisms, and user-rights processes. I would also establish scalable review processes for product changes, vendor assessments, DSARs, and privacy notices, escalating high-risk processing for deeper assessment.

Tell us about a time you translated a complex legal issue into actionable business advice.

In one matter, I converted a broad regulatory requirement into a concise decision framework identifying the prohibited conduct, acceptable alternatives, required approvals, and residual risks. This allowed commercial stakeholders to adjust their planned approach quickly without losing sight of the underlying business objective.

How do you manage outside counsel efficiently across different countries?

I define the scope, factual background, precise questions, expected deliverables, budget parameters, and decision deadlines at the outset. I compare advice against business needs, synthesize jurisdictional differences into clear recommendations, and maintain a reusable knowledge base to reduce duplicative work over time.
