Sample interview questions
I would map the end-to-end current-state workflow, quantify volume and cycle time at each stage, and interview frontline users to identify handoffs, exception paths, and manual work. I would then use root-cause analysis to prioritize the highest-impact drivers, define measurable improvements, and validate a future-state process with operations and IT.
It should define the business problem, objectives, stakeholders, scope, current process, future-state requirements, business rules, data and integration needs, assumptions, dependencies, risks, success metrics, and acceptance criteria. Requirements should be clear, testable, prioritized, and traceable through delivery and validation.
I would document operational use cases, input-document types, exception handling, required data fields, downstream system impacts, and performance measures such as accuracy and turnaround time. I would coordinate requirements reviews, support test-case development and UAT, capture defects, and ensure frontline users are prepared for the new workflow.
I would establish a baseline before implementation and agree on outcome metrics tied to the problem, such as cycle time, first-pass quality, rework rate, denial rate, backlog volume, productivity, and user adoption. After launch, I would compare results over an appropriate period, review exceptions, and recommend refinements if targets are not met.
I would present the recommendation in terms of the operational problem, evidence, expected impact, implementation effort, risks, and decision required. I would use concise process visuals and data, invite feedback from affected teams, and propose a phased approach when it reduces disruption or allows value to be demonstrated quickly.
