Sample interview questions
How would you gather and prioritize feedback from farmers for Halter’s product team?

I would combine structured customer conversations, field observations, support themes, usage data, and business impact. I would validate whether a problem is repeatable, quantify its effect on farm outcomes, and present concise evidence and recommended priorities to the product team.

Describe how you would introduce virtual fencing to a farmer who is sceptical of new technology.

I would first understand the farmer’s current grazing practices, pain points, and concerns about livestock welfare or reliability. I would then connect Halter’s capabilities to practical outcomes, explain the implementation process clearly, demonstrate value through relevant examples, and remain engaged through setup and early adoption.

Tell us about a cross-functional project you have led in an ambiguous environment.

I would describe the desired outcome, define the key stakeholders and constraints, establish an achievable plan, and create regular communication checkpoints. When new information emerged, I would adjust priorities transparently while keeping the team focused on the customer and operational impact.

How would you assess whether a strategic customer is receiving value from Halter?

I would agree on success measures with the customer, such as time saved, grazing flexibility, animal-location visibility, adoption levels, and operational outcomes. I would review these measures regularly, identify barriers to usage, and coordinate targeted training or product feedback where needed.

This role involves significant autonomy and travel. How do you stay organized and effective?

I prioritize work against customer impact and business objectives, maintain a disciplined travel and follow-up schedule, and document decisions and insights promptly. I also set clear expectations with internal stakeholders so that field findings, project actions, and customer commitments remain visible and accountable.
