The role, at a glance.
Deepgram is seeking a senior, customer-facing Pre-Sales Solutions Engineer to lead technical discovery, enterprise proof-of-concepts, solution architecture, and evaluations for strategic EMEA accounts. The role combines sales engineering, hands-on software development, technical support escalation, and post-sale continuity for complex voice AI deployments. Success requires building prototypes with APIs and SDKs, advising on cloud or self-hosted architectures, and navigating security, GDPR, data-residency, and procurement reviews. The position operates in a fast-moving AI-first environment with significant cross-functional collaboration across Account Executives, Solutions Architects, Product, Engineering, Support, and partners. It is remote for candidates based in the explicitly listed European countries and requires strong English communication and EMEA customer-hour overlap.

Sample interview questions
I would begin by clarifying the business outcome, users, workflows, and decision criteria. I would then identify technical constraints such as audio sources, languages, expected volume, latency targets, integration points, security requirements, deployment model, and data residency. I would translate those findings into measurable POC success criteria, an agreed dataset, owners, timeline, and a clear decision process.
I would first agree on representative audio samples and define evaluation metrics, such as word error rate, domain vocabulary performance, streaming latency, throughput, and integration reliability. I would build a lightweight streaming integration using the appropriate SDK or WebSocket API, capture structured logs and traces, and compare outcomes against the customer's baseline. I would present results with documented assumptions, trade-offs, remediation options, and a recommendation for production rollout.
I would avoid making unverified claims and start by understanding the customer's specific processing, retention, subprocessor, and deployment requirements. I would explain the available cloud, self-hosted, or hybrid architecture options relevant to their needs, coordinate with security and legal teams for approved documentation, and provide clear responses to the vendor-risk questionnaire. I would document any remaining gaps, owners, and mitigation plans so the customer has an auditable path to a decision.
I prioritize the customer impact and identify whether the request requires a quick validated answer, a prototype, or formal engineering and security review. I provide an immediate, clearly scoped response with known facts, assumptions, and next steps rather than overpromising. For recurring questions, I turn the validated answer into a reusable field guide, demo, or reference architecture to improve future deal velocity.
I would reproduce the issue, collect the relevant request details, logs, traces, environment information, and expected behavior, then assess its impact on the agreed success criteria. I would keep the customer and internal stakeholders informed with concise status updates while coordinating the right engineering, product, or support resources. After resolution, I would confirm the fix with the customer, document root cause and mitigation, and convert lessons learned into a runbook or product feedback where appropriate.

Company Operating Rhythm
At Deepgram, we expect an AI-first mindset—AI use and comfort aren’t optional, they’re core to how we operate, innovate, and measure performance.
Every team member who works at Deepgram is expected to actively use and experiment with advanced AI tools, and even build your own into your everyday work. We measure how effectively AI is applied to deliver results, and consistent, creative use of the latest AI capabilities is key to success here. Opportunity
Deepgram is expanding globally and operating a follow-the-sun model. We are hiring a Pre-sales Solutions Engineer in EMEA to win complex technical evaluations, design clear solution paths, and drive repeatable adoption for strategic accounts. Our strategic Account Executives do not hand off their customers after the first sale, so you will partner long-term across discovery, POC, production launch, and expansion. You will focus on pre-sales, yet you will often step into post-sales style work when the stakes are high and continuity matters.
