Sample interview questions
I would complete a structured assessment of the diagnosis, symptom burden, prior treatments and outcomes, comorbidities, current medicines, psychiatric and substance-use history, contraindications, and patient goals. I would then discuss the available evidence, uncertainties, potential benefits, risks, monitoring requirements, and alternatives before making and documenting a shared clinical decision.
I use current guidance, approved clinical protocols, a clear risk-benefit framework, and careful documentation. I would also participate in CPD, clinical governance reviews, case discussions, adverse-event reporting, and outcomes collection so that practice remains evidence-led and continually improves.
I would reassess the indication, treatment goals, adherence, dose, formulation, concurrent medicines, and possible adverse effects. Depending on the findings, I would adjust or discontinue treatment safely, provide clear follow-up instructions, and ensure the patient understands when to seek urgent care or return for review.
I ensure that identity, consent, privacy, clinical history, and red flags are addressed early, while setting expectations about the limits of remote assessment. I communicate clearly, use structured documentation, arrange appropriate investigations or in-person assessment when needed, and provide a concise follow-up plan that the patient can understand.
I would value their input in pre-consultation preparation, medication reconciliation, education, follow-up, and safety monitoring. I would communicate clear prescribing rationale and escalation criteria, remain available for complex clinical decisions, and use shared feedback to improve patient pathways and governance.
About this role.
Our patients have often tried everything. Years of appointments, medications that did not work, conditions that slowly took over their lives. By the time they reach us, many have run out of road with conventional treatment. You could be the clinician that changes that. We are Montu UK, one of the UK’s largest medical cannabis clinics, and we are looking for Consultant Neurologists to join our clinical team.
About the role
You will assess and manage patients exploring cannabis based medicines, making the clinical call on whether treatment is appropriate and managing their care from there. This is still a young field. The evidence base is growing, best practice is being written in real time, and you will have a genuine hand in shaping it.
You do not need experience with cannabis based medicines. You need sound clinical judgement, an open mind and an interest in doing things differently. We provide full specialist training, and our multidisciplinary model means you are never working in isolation. Nurses and pharmacists handle pre consultation and follow up tasks, so your time is spent where it matters: with patients.
What you will be doing:
Providing high quality care for patients seeking medical cannabis treatment
Conducting patient consultations, including assessment and ongoing management
Contributing to clinical outcome data collection to support evidence based practice
Supporting clinical governance and maintaining robust standards of patient care
Working closely within a multidisciplinary team of nurses and pharmacists
Taking part in ongoing training and development, including bespoke specialist training in cannabis based medicines (CBPMs)
What you need:
Full valid GMC Registration
Completion of Specialist Training (CCST/CCT) or equivalent certification
On the GMC Specialist Register for Neurology
A genuine interest in alternative therapies
Willingness to participate in data collection and reporting
Why join us?
Highly Competitive Compensation (rate reflects weekly commitment)
8 hours per week (2 sessions): €110 – €120 per hour
28 hours per week (7 sessions): €120 – €150 per hour
Flexible Working: Full time or part time options available
Indemnity coverage: Montu’s insurance will cover you for prescribing medical cannabis
Cutting Edge Training: Access to CPD accredited medical cannabis education and specialist in house training from industry leaders
Collaborative Environment: Join a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals
Personal Growth: Be part of a pioneering field and shape the future of medical cannabis care in the UK
Training and development:

Specialist training delivered by experts
Ongoing support on clinical protocols, prescribing practices and Montu’s systems
Working arrangements:
Fully remote with flexible working hours and days
Consultants based in Ireland who hold valid UK GMC Specialist Registration are eligible to prescribe remotely from Ireland for UK patients
Standard sessions are 4 hours of patient consultations, and you choose your preferred days and hours
To support onboarding, we ask for a minimum commitment of 2 sessions per week (8 hours) initially, so you become confident with our platform
Appointments are 15 minutes for new and existing patients. Our multidisciplinary model means nurses and pharmacists handle pre consultation and follow up prescribing tasks, so Consultants focus on prescribing and patient care
