Sample interview questions
I would use automated build, test, security-scanning, and artifact-promotion stages with immutable versioned releases. Deployments would use progressive delivery such as canary or blue-green strategies, automated health checks, clear rollback procedures, and audit-ready change records.
I would first establish service-level indicators and objectives for availability, latency, queue depth, error rates, and processing throughput. I would then build actionable monitoring and alerting, remove single points of failure, implement capacity planning, and run incident reviews that result in prioritized reliability improvements.
I treat infrastructure code like application code: version controlled, peer reviewed, tested, and deployed through controlled pipelines. Security should include least-privilege access, secrets management, encryption, policy-as-code checks, vulnerability management, and continuous logging for auditability.
I make the secure path the easiest path by embedding reusable pipeline templates, approved infrastructure modules, automated checks, and self-service documentation into the engineering workflow. This reduces manual gates while preserving evidence, consistency, and risk controls.
I would quickly establish impact and scope, gather relevant telemetry and configuration details, and communicate a clear investigation cadence to the customer-facing team. After restoring service or providing a workaround, I would document root cause, corrective actions, and preventive monitoring or runbook updates.
