Sample interview questions
I begin by mapping the proposed data flows, parties, purposes, and user controls. I identify applicable privacy obligations and translate them into product requirements, such as consent design, retention limits, contractual controls, and documentation, while working with engineering to implement pragmatic solutions before launch.
I would evaluate the data classification, precision, source, permitted uses, consent and notice mechanisms, recipient disclosures, retention, security controls, and relevant jurisdictional restrictions. I would also assess whether the feature creates heightened consumer-protection or sensitive-data risks and recommend controls proportionate to those risks.
I explain the issue in terms of the business objective, the legal requirement, the practical risk, and clear options for moving forward. I avoid legal jargon, identify a recommended path, and document decisions so product, engineering, and leadership can act confidently and consistently.
I would align the policy with applicable laws, platform obligations, consumer-protection principles, and company risk tolerance. I would define prohibited and restricted content, escalation paths, enforcement standards, and appeal processes, then partner with operations and product teams to ensure the policy is operationally enforceable.
I monitor regulator guidance, enforcement actions, legislative developments, industry associations, and trusted legal publications. I prioritize developments based on product impact, brief relevant stakeholders on material changes, and convert key updates into actionable product, policy, or contract workstreams.
