Sample interview questions
How would you design a sourcing strategy for a hard-to-reach specialist profile needed for an AI project?

I would begin by clarifying the skills, language, geography, volume, quality threshold, timeline, and engagement constraints. I would map likely talent communities and channels, launch several targeted sourcing experiments, and use early conversion data to shift effort toward the highest-performing approaches. I would provide stakeholders with clear feasibility, risk, and timeline updates throughout.

Describe how you use sourcing funnel data to improve performance.

I track stage-level metrics such as outreach response, qualification, assessment completion, activation, and retention. When conversion drops, I segment results by source, geography, profile, and messaging to identify the constraint. I then test focused changes, such as audience criteria, outreach copy, screening design, or process timing, and scale the improvements that produce measurable gains.

How would you lead a new global sourcing hub with distributed team members?

I would establish a clear operating model with role ownership, service levels, intake standards, shared dashboards, and regular planning and retrospectives. I would balance global consistency with local market expertise, document repeatable sourcing playbooks, and coach team members through performance data and quality feedback. Regular asynchronous updates and deliberate overlap hours would keep decisions moving across time zones.

How do you balance urgent high-volume needs with specialized, complex searches?

I would triage demand using business impact, delivery deadline, sourcing difficulty, and available capacity. High-volume work should rely on scalable channels, automation, and standardized workflows, while complex searches need dedicated research and tailored engagement. Transparent prioritization and capacity forecasting help stakeholders understand tradeoffs before delivery risks arise.

What is an example of using automation or AI responsibly in sourcing?

I would use automation to accelerate repetitive work such as market mapping, candidate segmentation, outreach drafting, data cleanup, and reporting, while maintaining human review for quality, fairness, and sensitive decisions. I would test outputs against defined success metrics and monitor for bias or inaccurate targeting. The goal is to make sourcers more effective, not to remove accountability from the process.
