Sample interview questions
I begin by confirming identity, privacy, consent, and the patient’s current location for emergency planning. I obtain a thorough history, perform a structured mental-status examination adapted for video, assess safety risks, review relevant records, and develop a collaborative treatment plan with clear follow-up steps.
I maintain active licenses only where I am authorized to practice and verify applicable state and federal requirements before prescribing. I document clinical rationale, review medication history and contraindications, use appropriate monitoring, and establish escalation procedures for urgent safety concerns.
With appropriate patient consent, I communicate concise, clinically relevant treatment goals, medication updates, risk concerns, and progress observations. I value therapists’ longitudinal insights and align medication management with psychotherapy and the shared care plan.
I would immediately perform a focused risk assessment, determine the patient’s exact location and available supports, and activate the appropriate emergency or crisis resources based on the level of risk. I would remain engaged as appropriate, coordinate handoff, document actions carefully, and arrange follow-up care.
I use clear, calm communication, active listening, purposeful pauses, and frequent checks for understanding. I also ensure a professional private environment, explain the telehealth process transparently, and invite patients to participate actively in decisions about their care.
About this role.
UpLift – Redefining Access to Mental Healthcare
At UpLift, we believe mental health is just as important as physical health — and we’re rethinking the mental healthcare model. UpLift is a multi-sided marketplace, applying technology to empower patients to find Therapists and Psychiatric providers covered by their insurance plan.
While 1 in 5 Americans struggle with mental health issues, only 40% of this group received care in the last year. At the same time, only 30% of therapists accept insurance. UpLift acts as the bridge between patient, provider, and insurer — empowering patients to find the best care for their needs at a price they can afford.
