Sample interview questions
How would you approach a feasibility assessment for a global clinical trial with an ambitious enrollment target?

I would begin by reviewing the protocol, eligibility criteria, enrollment assumptions, and operational model. I would combine epidemiology, standard-of-care, competitive-trial, historical site-performance, and country-level data to estimate the addressable patient pool and recruitment potential. I would then identify key risks, validate assumptions through targeted site or investigator outreach where appropriate, and present prioritized country and site recommendations with transparent rationale and contingencies.

Describe how you would explain a feasibility risk to a client when the available data are incomplete or conflicting.

I would clearly separate confirmed evidence from assumptions and describe the limitations of each data source. I would explain the potential impact on enrollment, timelines, or site activation, quantify the risk where feasible, and propose practical mitigations such as broadening country coverage, adding reserve sites, or revisiting restrictive eligibility criteria. This approach maintains scientific credibility while enabling an informed decision.

What factors do you evaluate when recommending countries and sites for a clinical study?

I evaluate patient availability, disease epidemiology, treatment pathways, competing studies, site experience, investigator interest, recruitment history, regulatory and startup considerations, standard of care, and operational capacity. I also consider protocol complexity and whether sites can realistically identify, screen, and retain the required patient population. Recommendations should balance scientific opportunity with executable operational conditions.

How do you manage several feasibility deliverables with competing deadlines?

I establish the scope, decision points, data needs, and deadlines for each deliverable at the outset. I prioritize work according to proposal urgency, complexity, and dependencies, communicate early when risks arise, and use structured trackers to maintain quality control. I also align regularly with stakeholders so that assumptions and changes are addressed before they affect the final recommendation.

How would you present a complex feasibility analysis to nontechnical business-development stakeholders?

I would lead with the decision and the most important implications for the proposal, using concise visuals and an executive summary. I would explain the supporting evidence in plain language, highlight key assumptions and risks, and provide clear options with trade-offs. Detailed methods and source data would be available in an appendix for stakeholders who need deeper review.
