Sample interview questions
How would you create a regional growth plan for GitLab Commercial in LATAM?

I would segment the market by country, industry, account potential, partner coverage, and buying maturity. I would translate those segments into territory priorities, pipeline targets, account plans, and partner motions, then review leading indicators and adjust investment based on conversion, sales-cycle, and retention data.

How do you use MEDDPICC to improve forecast accuracy and deal quality?

I make qualification a consistent operating practice rather than a one-time checklist. In deal reviews, I inspect metrics, economic buyer access, decision process, decision criteria, paper process, pain, champion strength, and competition, then define clear next actions and remove unsupported opportunities from the forecast.

Describe your approach to coaching Commercial Account Executives.

I use a regular cadence of one-to-ones, pipeline reviews, call coaching, and account-strategy sessions. Coaching is individualized against observable behaviors and outcomes, with mutually agreed development plans, clear expectations, and follow-up measures for improvement.

How would you balance direct selling responsibilities with leading a regional team?

I would focus my direct involvement on strategic accounts, complex opportunities, executive relationships, and coaching moments where leadership participation can unblock a deal. I would protect time for team development and operating rhythms so that my involvement builds repeatable capability rather than creating dependency.

How do you collaborate with Marketing, Renewals, and Sales Operations to drive revenue?

I establish shared definitions for target accounts, pipeline stages, handoffs, renewal risk, and success metrics. Regular cross-functional reviews identify gaps in demand generation, coverage, data quality, and deal execution, allowing the teams to prioritize actions that improve both new business and expansion outcomes.

  • Success leading and developing account-focused sales teams, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
  • A track record of meeting or exceeding revenue, pipeline, and other sales performance objectives.
  • Experience building and executing go-to-market strategies for LATAM, with a willingness to lead your team and participate directly in selling.
  • Commercial and analytical skills to interpret sales performance, market trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics, and use those insights to improve regional plans.
  • Practical experience using customer relationship management (CRM) and sales and marketing tools, such as Salesforce, Clari, or Marketo, to manage forecasts, territories, and pipeline.
  • Relationship-building, negotiation, and presentation skills, including executive-level written and verbal communication and the ability to mentor others.
  • Interest in open source and a commitment to GitLab’s values of collaboration, results, efficiency, diversity, inclusion and belonging, iteration, and transparency.
