Sample interview questions
How would you turn a complex product feature into a story that a business audience wants to read?

I would start by understanding the customer problem, the feature’s practical impact, and the audience’s existing level of knowledge. I would identify a clear angle rather than simply describing functionality, then use concrete examples, customer context, and plain language to build a useful narrative. I would validate technical claims with subject-matter experts before editing for clarity and tone.

Tell us about a time you challenged a content brief.

I would explain the audience need and evidence behind my recommendation, such as search intent, customer feedback, or campaign goals. I would offer an alternative concept and outline how it better serves the reader and business objective. The aim is to improve the work collaboratively, not to reject a brief without a constructive solution.

How do you apply SEO without making content feel formulaic?

I use search data to understand the questions and language an audience uses, then build a genuinely useful piece around that intent. Keywords inform structure, headings, and terminology, but they do not replace a strong argument, original insight, or readable prose. I review performance after publication and refine content where evidence supports it.

How do you manage several briefs with competing deadlines?

I clarify the objective, owner, approval process, dependencies, and delivery date for each project at the outset. I prioritize work by business impact and urgency, break larger pieces into milestones, and communicate early if a dependency or scope change creates risk. This creates room to protect quality while keeping stakeholders informed.

What is your approach to using AI tools in content development?

I use AI tools selectively for activities such as brainstorming, outlining, research prompts, and variation testing, while retaining responsibility for judgment and final writing. I fact-check outputs, protect confidential information, and ensure the final work reflects the brand voice and an original editorial perspective. AI should accelerate thoughtful work, not replace expertise or accuracy.
