Sample interview questions
How would you decide whether a breaking-news item requires a Real-Time Alert?

I would assess the source credibility, timeliness, likely impact on the relevant client and whether the development is materially new. I would verify key facts through reliable independent sources where possible, then write a concise alert that clearly distinguishes confirmed information from developing details.

Describe how you would handle conflicting reports from several media outlets.

I would compare the outlets' sourcing, publication times and direct evidence, prioritising official statements and well-established sources. If facts remain unconfirmed, I would communicate the uncertainty precisely rather than presenting speculation as fact, while continuing to monitor for confirmation.

How do you maintain accuracy when working under intense time pressure?

I use a structured workflow: identify the core event, confirm the essential facts, check names, dates and locations, and perform a final clarity review before publishing. Templates and clear prioritisation help me work quickly without reducing editorial standards.

Why are English and German skills important in this role?

They allow the analyst to monitor, understand and compare a broader range of international and German-language sources directly. This supports faster detection of relevant developments and more accurate summaries without relying solely on translations.

How would you stay effective during early weekend shifts with a fast news cycle?

I would prepare my monitoring setup and priority topics before the shift, follow a disciplined triage process and document handovers clearly. I also maintain focus by separating urgent verified developments from lower-priority background coverage and escalating issues promptly when needed.
