Sample interview questions
Describe a government partnership you developed that resulted in a technology-adoption or commercial outcome.

I would outline the institution’s need, the stakeholder map, and the adoption barriers, then explain how I aligned internal product, legal, and commercial teams around a practical proposal. I would quantify the resulting pilot, deployment, procurement pathway, or revenue impact while emphasizing how trust was built over time.

How would you prioritize European public-sector opportunities for ElevenLabs?

I would assess each opportunity against addressable use cases, institutional readiness, regulatory sensitivity, procurement feasibility, strategic reference value, and likely time to deployment. I would start with markets where I have strong relationships and where voice or conversational AI can solve clear accessibility, service-delivery, education, or operational challenges.

How do the EU AI Act, GDPR, and DSA/DMA affect an AI company’s public-sector strategy?

These frameworks shape risk assessment, transparency, data governance, procurement requirements, and stakeholder confidence. I would work with Legal, Safety, and Security to turn compliance readiness into clear, evidence-based materials that help public-sector buyers understand responsible deployment.

How would you handle conflicting priorities between a government partner seeking rapid deployment and internal teams managing safety or compliance concerns?

I would make the trade-offs explicit early and create a shared plan with defined safeguards, owners, milestones, and escalation points. Rather than treating compliance as a blocker, I would frame it as a condition for sustainable adoption and help identify a phased deployment or pilot that meets both institutional and internal requirements.

What is your approach to building influence across EU institutions, national governments, and industry coalitions?

I tailor engagement to each stakeholder’s mandate while maintaining a consistent company narrative grounded in evidence and responsible innovation. I invest in long-term relationships, contribute constructively to policy discussions, and build coalitions around concrete shared objectives rather than relying on transactional outreach.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to build ElevenLabs’ public sector business across Europe. The Public Sector Partnerships Lead will identify and build relationships with government institutions across Europe, bridging the gap between government and our GTM team to drive adoption of ElevenLabs’ products and grow government into a strong, durable revenue stream for the company. The role also involves building strategic partnerships with policymakers, industry associations, and coalitions — including at the EU institutional level — as well as monitoring regulatory developments and supporting policy campaigns and impact initiatives.

In this role, you will:

Drive government adoption and revenue (primary)

  • Identify government partnership opportunities across Europe — from healthcare and education to defence, transport, and other state-owned enterprises — and bridge the gap between government institutions and the GTM team to drive adoption and deployment of ElevenLabs’ products.

  • Build and maintain a wide network of relationships across European government institutions — spanning national ministries, agencies, EU institutions, and public sector bodies — not limited to regulatory or policy counterparts.

  • Promote government adoption of ElevenLabs products and services in partnership with the GTM team.

Build strategic partnerships (secondary)

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with policymakers, regulators, industry associations, and civil society groups — at both the national and EU level.

  • Represent ElevenLabs at conferences and industry events, advancing the company’s public policy goals.

Monitor and advise on policy (tertiary)

  • Lead ElevenLabs engagement with government bodies and officials across Europe, with a focus on AI governance, safety, copyright, privacy, transparency, data protection, competition, and/or digital rights.

  • Monitor, analyze, and advise on emerging regulations impacting the company — with particular attention to EU-level legislation (AI Act, GDPR, DSA/DMA) and its implementation across member states.

  • Support the development of internal policies by our Legal, Safety, Security, and other teams.

  • Provide strategic counsel to company leadership on regional policy trends and their business implications.

  • Define and implement policy campaigns and impact initiatives that advance company objectives.

Who you are:

  • You’re genuinely interested in the future of AI and emerging technologies, bringing curiosity and enthusiasm to your role.

  • You stay up-to-date on AI regulation and industry trends, and are eager to apply this expertise to cutting-edge products.

  • You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment, working cross-functionally with teams across the organization to support and scale a growing business.

  • You’re comfortable working independently and handling ambiguity, excelling in situations where you must make informed decisions quickly.

  • You bring a proactive, solution-oriented approach to each project, focused on moving the business forward.

What you bring:

Primary requirements

  • 10+ years’ experience in public and private sector (in-house, firm) roles, with a track record of building relationships with government that led to commercial or technology-adoption outcomes — not solely policy or regulatory roles.

  • A wide, current network of contacts spanning multiple European markets — across national ministries, agencies, and public sector bodies — as well as EU institutions (European Commission, European Parliament, Council). Depth in at least two major European markets is strongly preferred.

  • Experience identifying and opening doors for technology partnerships with government institutions is strongly preferred.

  • Experience navigating the multi-stakeholder landscape of EU policymaking — member state governments, EU institutions, and Brussels-based coalitions — is a significant plus.

Also required

  • Strong knowledge of the European AI policy landscape, including the EU AI Act, GDPR, DSA/DMA, and broader themes of AI governance, safety, copyright, privacy, transparency, data protection, and competition.

  • Demonstrated success in designing, advocating for, and influencing policy outcomes, as well as coalition building.

  • Public policy experience across Europe.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including when briefing government officials and other policymakers.

  • Fluency in English; additional European languages are a strong plus.

Location

This role is located in Europe.

We are an equal opportunity employer and do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, veteran status, disability or other legally protected statuses.
