Sample interview questions
How would you develop positioning for a complex secure-access product aimed at both technical and business buyers?

I would begin with customer interviews, win/loss findings, competitive analysis, and product discovery to identify high-value pains and buying triggers. I would build a core value narrative supported by differentiated proof points, then tailor supporting messages for technical evaluators and executive decision-makers. I would validate the framework with Sales, Product, and selected customers before scaling it across launch and enablement materials.

Describe how you measure the success of a product launch.

I define success metrics before launch across leading and lagging indicators. These commonly include enablement completion, message adoption, web engagement, trial or demo conversion, product adoption, pipeline influence, win rate, and revenue contribution. I review performance with cross-functional stakeholders and use the findings to refine targeting, content, and field guidance.

How would you equip the sales organization to compete against an established competitor?

I would synthesize competitive research into concise battle cards that cover competitor positioning, likely objections, differentiation, discovery questions, proof points, and appropriate landmines. I would pair the materials with live training and role-play sessions, then collect field feedback and deal outcomes to keep the guidance current and actionable.

Tell us about managing competing priorities during several concurrent product launches.

I create a shared launch plan that identifies milestones, owners, dependencies, risks, and the business impact of each deliverable. I align stakeholders on decision deadlines and use regular check-ins to surface blockers early. When trade-offs are necessary, I prioritize work that most directly affects customer clarity, field readiness, and measurable business outcomes.

How would you use market research to influence product roadmap decisions?

I would combine qualitative signals, such as interviews and sales feedback, with quantitative evidence from usage data, market trends, competitive gaps, and win/loss analysis. I would turn those inputs into a clear opportunity statement that outlines the target segment, problem severity, expected value, and strategic rationale. Presenting this evidence alongside Product leadership helps ensure roadmap decisions are grounded in validated market needs.

LastPass is looking for a Product Marketing Manager:

In this role, you will own positioning, messaging, and field enablement, helping LastPass deliver on its mission to give everyone seamless access to everything they need to work, move fast, and stay protected. As a staff-level Product Marketing Manager, you will also shape go-to-market strategy across our product portfolio.

About the team:

The Product Marketing team at LastPass sits at the intersection of product, sales, and brand — translating complex security and identity capabilities into clear, compelling narratives that move markets. We are a collaborative, curious group that moves quickly, sweats the details, and believes great marketing starts with a deep understanding of the customer.

If you are passionate about complex problem solving and motivated by scale, then this is the role for you!

Who will you work with?

You will work closely with Product Management to shape positioning and launch strategy, with Sales Enablement to ensure the field is equipped to win, and with Brand and Creative to bring campaigns to life. You will also partner with Business Operations to track performance and inform how we prioritize marketing investment.

What are some of the exciting challenges you will be working on?

  • Define and own the positioning and messaging framework for LastPass products, ensuring clarity and differentiation across customer segments and channels
  • Lead go-to-market planning for product launches, coordinating with Product, Sales, and Brand to drive awareness, adoption, and revenue impact
  • Develop sales enablement materials — including battle cards, pitch decks, and competitive intelligence — that equip the field to engage buyers and win competitive deals
  • Partner with Brand and Creative to produce compelling content — case studies, thought leadership, and web copy — that supports demand generation and strengthens brand authority
  • Conduct customer and market research to surface insights that sharpen product positioning and influence roadmap prioritization
  • Use data-driven insights to refine product marketing strategy and demonstrate contribution to pipeline and growth

What does it take to work at LastPass?

  • Proven experience in product marketing, with a track record of owning end-to-end go-to-market strategies for B2B SaaS or technology products
  • Proven ability to translate complex technical capabilities into clear, compelling messaging that resonates with both technical buyers and business decision-makers
  • Strong analytical background, with proven experience using data and market research to inform positioning decisions and measure program effectiveness
  • Proven experience working cross-functionally, influencing stakeholders across Product, Sales, and Brand without direct authority
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, staying organised and delivering quality work under tight deadlines

It’s great, but not required:

  • Background in cybersecurity, identity, or access management — familiarity with the security landscape would accelerate time-to-impact in this role
  • Experience with competitive intelligence platforms or win/loss analysis programs, with the ability to translate findings into actionable field guidance
