Sample interview questions
I would explain how I assessed the customer environment, defined a phased implementation plan, built and tested integrations, trained users, measured adoption, and iterated on use cases based on operational results.
I would start with security, data-handling, authorization, auditability, and model-risk requirements. I would use controlled prompts and tools, least-privilege access, evaluation criteria, monitoring, human review for high-impact actions, and a staged rollout with measurable success metrics.
I would establish impact and scope, gather logs and reproduce the issue where possible, communicate a clear incident cadence, implement a safe mitigation, and then complete root-cause analysis and preventive follow-up actions.
I tailor communication to the audience: hands-on teams receive practical workflows and enablement, while leaders receive outcome metrics, risk considerations, and a roadmap tied to strategic objectives. I use shared success measures to keep both groups aligned.
I first ensure the original deployment is delivering value, then use workflow observations, user feedback, and operational metrics to identify adjacent high-impact problems. I prioritize opportunities collaboratively with the customer and present them as a sequenced value roadmap rather than as an isolated upsell.
About this role.
Tines is the intelligent workflow company that powers some of the world’s most important workflows.
Tines has been supporting IT and security teams from a diverse range of customers, including Canva, Reddit, SAP, Coinbase, Mars, Fin (Intercom), and McKesson.
Tines 3B, launched in 2026, is the next generation of Tines – a single, secure environment for every team’s apps, agents and automations.
As an integrator across the entire tech stack, Tines is vendor-agnostic integrating with any API-enabled service. This flexibility enables our customers to achieve their highest-priority goals faster. Tines has security woven into its DNA, and our platform is secure and private by design.
At Tines, we’re driven by our values of Simplicity, Speed, and Soundness. We’re committed to delivering exceptional customer experiences while fostering a company culture that nurtures individual curiosity, growth, and integrity. We’re excited about what’s next, and we’re looking for others to join us on our journey.
This is a remote role that must be based in EST in the United States.
About the Role
You’ll join as a founding member of Tines’ forward deployed team, embedded directly with our public sector and federal customers to drive transformational AI adoption. Your job is to realize maximum potential for Tines’ customers and to ensure every stakeholder from end user to customer leadership understands and fully realizes the value of Tines.
You own the full arc of a customer’s success: from deepening adoption and enabling stakeholders through to discovering new opportunities where the platform can create measurable business impact. You’ll show customers the art of what’s possible and ensuring the value delivered today is only the beginning. You’ll be the person customers trust most to make the Tines’ platform work for them in practice.
We expect our FDEs to operate autonomously, thrive in ambiguity and represent us at the highest level inside customer environments. You’ll be as comfortable deep in a customer’s technical environment as you are leading a training session with a non-technical team or presenting a business case to a CTO.
What you will be doing:
- Own end-to-end deployment: Lead the technical implementation of Tines’ platform within complex enterprise environments. Integrating with existing systems, configuring for customer-specific workflows and ensuring a fast, smooth path to deliverable outcomes.
- Drive adoption across the organisation: Proactively support and train users and stakeholders in the customer at every level from hands-on technical teams to business leaders ensuring the platform is understood actively used and maximized.
- Identify and develop new use cases: Through deep familiarity with each customer’s business, continuously surface new opportunities where Tines’ platform can create additional value expanding adoption across teams, workflows, and business units.
- Be the primary technical point of contact: Serve as the customer’s trusted advisor on all things platform-related. Troubleshooting issues, delivering workshops, answering technical questions and resolving blockers before they become problems.
- Maintain strong customer relationships: Build lasting partnerships at every level of the organisation, from daily users to executive sponsors with a focus on long-term retention and growth.
- Feed insights back to the product: Codify what you learn in the field. Surfacing recurring friction points, unmet needs and high-value use cases and sharing these with Tines’ internal teams such as Engineering, Product and GTM.
- Travel 20–40% to customer sites to build trust, accelerate adoption and deepen relationships in person.
What you Bring with you:
- 8+ years in a technical, customer-facing role: Solutions / Pre-sales Engineer, Technical Consultant, Customer Success Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer, Integration / Implementation Engineer or Software Engineer with customer exposure
- 5+ years of experience working with public sector or federal customers
- Proven track record of driving adoption and delivering measurable value from complex technical products inside enterprise environments
- Strong engineering skills to own integrations, troubleshoot production issues and understand customer infrastructure
- Strong Python skills (plus ideally TypeScript, Java, or similar)
- Production experience with LLMs and AI systems: prompt engineering, agent workflows, and deployment at scale
- Ability to train, enable and influence stakeholders across all levels
- High agency and resourcefulness: you find a path forward independently, escalate only when necessary, and take full ownership of your accounts
- Strong communication skills: clear, confident, and low-ego: you make complex things feel simple
- Willingness to travel 20–40% to customer sites
Target Annual Compensation: $220-240K OTE (90/10 split)
