The role, at a glance.
Paddle is seeking an Organic & AI Search Manager to lead organic search, answer-engine optimization, and LLM discoverability strategy. The role audits traditional and AI-driven search visibility, builds prioritized roadmaps, and converts insights into content and messaging decisions. It partners closely with Brand, Product Marketing, Growth, Creative, Social, and PR teams to improve how Paddle is found, cited, and recommended. The manager will guide content refreshes, use AI to develop initial drafts, and measure outcomes such as citation share, share of voice, organic visibility, and pipeline impact. This is a strategic yet hands-on individual-contributor role in a fast-changing search landscape.

Sample interview questions
I would begin with an audit of technical SEO, content coverage, rankings, backlink authority, branded search, LLM citations, and competitor presence. I would prioritize opportunities by commercial relevance, visibility gap, expected impact, implementation effort, and confidence. The roadmap would combine foundational technical work, content refreshes, net-new topic clusters, authority-building initiatives, and experiments designed to improve citations and recommendations.
I would build a repeatable query set covering brand, category, problem-aware, comparison, and high-intent questions. For each query, I would track whether the brand appears, how it is described, which sources are cited, sentiment and accuracy, competitor share, and changes over time. I would then use recurring gaps or inaccuracies to inform source content, terminology, structured information, and PR or distribution priorities.
I would focus on the business question rather than lead with metrics. For example, I would show that a high-intent topic has growing demand, weak visibility, identifiable content gaps, and a credible link to relevant pipeline, then recommend a specific action, owner, and expected measurement plan. Clear visuals, plain language, and trade-offs help stakeholders act on the insight quickly.
I use AI to accelerate research synthesis, outline creation, gap analysis, and first-draft development, but retain human ownership of facts, positioning, subject-matter accuracy, tone, and final editorial judgment. I would validate claims against reliable sources and ensure every piece delivers original, useful expertise rather than generic text. The goal is faster high-quality production, not content volume for its own sake.
I would connect visibility indicators to the funnel through topic-level tracking, landing-page engagement, assisted conversions, lead quality, influenced opportunities, and pipeline where attribution data permits. I would distinguish leading indicators, such as rankings and citation share, from commercial lagging indicators. Reporting would pair quantitative evidence with a clear narrative about the content themes and buyer journeys driving the results.
About this role.
What do we do?
Paddle offers digital product companies a completely different approach to their payment infrastructure. Instead of assembling and maintaining a complex stack of payments-related apps and services, we’re a Merchant of Record for our customers. That means we take away 100% of the pain of payment fragmentation. It’s faster, safer, cheaper, and, above all, way better.
We’re backed by investors including KKR, FTV Capital, Kindred, Notion, and 83North and serve over 10,000 software sellers in 245 territories globally.
The Role:
The way people find information is changing. Search now includes AI-generated answers, large language model (LLM) citations, and zero-click journeys. People often get an answer without visiting a website, so how a brand is understood and cited matters as much as where its pages rank.
We’re looking for an Organic & AI Search Manager to help Paddle show up well in those answers. You’ll shape how Paddle is understood, cited, and recommended by both people and machines. Ranking pages is part of that. Being cited and recommended is the rest. You’ll work across organic strategy, AI discoverability, and content, partnering closely with our Brand, product marketing (PMM), and Growth teams so the content we create is easy to find, trust, and surface in AI-generated answers.
Reporting to the Head of Web, you’ll connect the people who create content with the changing landscape of organic and AI-powered discovery. You’ll turn insight into strategy, and strategy into decisions.
You’ll also help move the work forward. You’ll help shape new content, and you’ll steer business-as-usual (BAU) updates, refreshes, and improvements that strengthen organic visibility, AI discoverability, and performance. Where it helps, you’ll draft first versions for review, using AI to speed that up. This is a broad role for someone who can move between spotting opportunities, making recommendations, and moving the work forward.
What you’ll do:
Own Paddle’s organic and AI discoverability strategy, from brand awareness to category-level consideration, so we’re visible wherever our audience looks for answers
Audit our presence across traditional search, AI-generated responses, and LLM citation patterns, then build and maintain a prioritized roadmap based on the gaps
Turn organic and AI visibility data into clear content decisions for Brand, PMM, and Growth
Work with Creative, Social, and PR within Brand to structure, frame, and distribute content so search engines and LLMs can find and use it
Work with PMM to align messaging, terminology, and the topics we want Paddle to be known for, so we’re represented consistently wherever people look
Steer BAU content updates and refreshes, drafting first versions for review with the help of AI, and bring SEO and AEO input to new content
Define and track the metrics that show real discoverability (AI citation share, share of voice in LLM outputs, and organic visibility trends), and use them to create accountability across content functions
Link organic and AI visibility to commercial goals, and influence pipeline through the content and topics we prioritise
We’d love to hear from you if you:
Have a strong foundation in search engine optimisation (SEO), across technical, on-page, and off-page work, and are building expertise in AI and LLM discoverability, answer engine optimisation (AEO), or generative engine optimisation (GEO)
Understand how LLMs surface, cite, and recommend content, and have an informed view on how brands can influence that
Have experience working cross-functionally with content, brand, or product marketing teams, and have shaped and influenced how they work
Can steer content updates and produce a first draft for review, using AI to help
Are comfortable turning complex organic data and trends into clear direction for non-specialist stakeholders
Can connect organic performance to commercial outcomes such as pipeline, and explain the link to stakeholders
Can balance long-term strategic thinking with moving quickly and testing your hypotheses
Are curious about how information discovery is changing and have strong opinions on where it’s heading
