Sample interview questions
How would you manage a portfolio of approximately 50 SMB cybersecurity customers while ensuring each receives strategic attention?

I would segment accounts by renewal date, risk level, product adoption, expansion potential, and customer maturity. I would establish scalable engagement cadences such as automated health reviews, group enablement sessions, and structured QBRs, while reserving deeper one-to-one engagement for at-risk and high-value accounts.

Describe how you would explain an Active Directory or Entra ID security finding to a CISO and to a hands-on administrator.

For a CISO, I would frame the finding in terms of business risk, likely impact, exposure, and the prioritized remediation path. For an administrator, I would provide the technical evidence, affected configurations or identities, recommended changes, validation steps, and any operational considerations.

What signals would indicate that a customer is at risk of non-renewal?

Key signals include declining product usage, unresolved critical findings, low engagement from key stakeholders, missed success-plan milestones, support escalation patterns, leadership changes, competitor evaluation, and a lack of demonstrable business value. I would document the risk, align an internal account plan, and agree on a recovery plan with the customer.

How do you identify a legitimate expansion opportunity without making the customer relationship feel transactional?

I begin with the customer's stated objectives, current security gaps, adoption data, and maturity roadmap. When an additional module or service directly addresses an agreed need, I quantify the expected value, validate stakeholder readiness, and partner with the account owner to present it as a solution to the customer's priorities.

Tell us how you would run a productive customer health check for a cybersecurity product.

I would review usage and telemetry, outstanding security findings, configuration quality, support trends, stakeholder engagement, and progress against the joint success plan. I would then summarize risks and achievements, prioritize corrective actions with clear owners and dates, and schedule a follow-up to verify progress and maintain momentum.
