Opportunity details

About this role.

Our Sales team is often the first group a founder or business owner talks to at Mercury, and the people who help them as their company grows. Who we hire onto that team shapes how customers experience Mercury.

We’re looking for a Sales Recruiter to help build and scale that team. You’ll own full-cycle searches across our sales organization, from high-volume roles like Sales Development Representatives to Account Executives and post-sales roles like Relationship Managers and Account Development. You’ll work closely with hiring managers and senior recruiters, run searches end to end, and help improve how our recruiting team operates as we grow.

This role is a good fit for someone who is organized, proactive, and comfortable owning their work. You should enjoy learning a new business quickly, work well with autonomy, and care about giving every candidate a thoughtful experience.

What you’ll do

  • Own full-cycle recruiting for Account Executive, Sales Development, Relationship Manager, and Account Development roles, from sourcing to close
  • Run kickoffs and calibration sessions with hiring managers to define what a strong candidate looks like, and adjust the search as you learn
  • Identify and engage strong candidates through sourcing and inbound channels, using funnel data to decide where to spend your time
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with stakeholders on pipeline health, progress, blockers, and recruiting timeline
  • Represent Mercury to candidates, sharing our mission, culture, and what it’s like to join a growing sales organization
  • Spot opportunities to improve recruiting processes, tools, and documentation, and share them with the team
  • Manage offers and closing for your searches

What you’ll need

  • 2+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, including at least 1 year in-house, ideally with sales roles such as account executives, SDRs, or account management
  • Strong organization and attention to detail, with experience managing several searches at once, including at least one high-volume role
  • Strong sourcing skills and ability to write compelling outreach
  • Ability to work with recruiting data, such as pass-through rates and time to hire, to track your searches and spot where they’re getting stuck
  • Experience building strong relationships with hiring managers, including giving clear feedback and pushing back when needed
  • Experience independently managing searches end to end, and knowing when to ask for help
  • Comfort with some ambiguity, and a habit of seeking out feedback and applying it

Nice to have

  • Experience recruiting at a fintech, SaaS, or high-growth startup
  • Familiarity with Greenhouse, Gem, or similar recruiting tools

Sample interview questions
How do you structure a kickoff meeting for a new sales hiring search?

I align with the hiring manager on business goals, must-have competencies, scorecard criteria, compensation and location parameters, interview stages, and expected timeline. I also review the likely talent market and agree on feedback turnaround times, then document the plan so we can recalibrate using real pipeline data.

Tell us about how you manage a high-volume recruiting pipeline without compromising candidate experience.

I use clear stage definitions, service-level expectations, templates that remain personalized, and regular pipeline reviews. I prioritize rapid communication and automate administrative tasks where appropriate, while reserving time for thoughtful outreach, candidate preparation, and timely feedback.

What recruiting metrics would you use to diagnose a stalled search?

I would review source-to-screen conversion, pass-through rates by interview stage, response rates, time in stage, interviewer feedback themes, and offer acceptance data. These metrics help determine whether the issue is sourcing, calibration, interview quality, speed, or compensation and enable a targeted adjustment.

How would you push back when a hiring manager has an unrealistic candidate profile?

I would present market evidence and pipeline data respectfully, clarify which requirements are truly essential, and explain the likely impact on time to hire. I would propose practical alternatives, such as broadening adjacent backgrounds, adjusting seniority, or revising the interview criteria, while keeping the manager accountable for a timely decision.

How do you create compelling outreach for an Account Executive candidate?

I tailor outreach around the candidate's relevant sales background and connect it to the role's business impact, customer profile, growth opportunity, and culture. I keep the message concise, transparent about the process, and specific about why their experience may be a strong fit rather than relying on generic recruiting language.
