Sample interview questions
Describe your experience owning the full books of a Polish legal entity under the Polish Accounting Act.

I have managed end-to-end statutory accounting, including source-document review, journal entries, reconciliations, fixed assets, period-end close, statutory financial statements, and coordination with external auditors. I maintain clear controls and documentation so that records remain compliant and audit-ready.

How do you ensure the accuracy of VAT registers and JPK_V7 submissions?

I reconcile VAT registers to the general ledger, validate invoice data and tax codes, investigate exceptions before filing, and maintain a documented review process. I also track regulatory changes and update system mappings and procedures when requirements change.

What would be your approach to implementing a Poland-specific NetSuite module?

I would begin by documenting statutory, tax, and reporting requirements, then translate them into configuration and testing scenarios with the implementation partner. I would perform data validation, reconcile outputs to the ledger, log defects with clear evidence and priority, and support user acceptance testing before go-live.

How have you handled monthly and annual close in a fast-growing company?

I use a close calendar with defined owners, materiality-based reviews, and reconciliations for key balance-sheet accounts. I prioritize high-risk areas early, communicate blockers promptly, and continuously improve templates and controls to shorten the close without compromising accuracy.

How would you communicate an accounting or tax issue to non-finance stakeholders?

I would explain the business impact in plain language, outline the compliance risk and available options, and recommend a practical next step. I would provide enough supporting detail for decision-making while avoiding unnecessary technical jargon.
