About this role.
We design Spotify’s consumer experience—end to end, moment to moment, across every screen, platform, and partner integration. Our mission is to make listening feel effortless, personal, and joyful for billions of users around the world. That means turning complexity into clarity across hundreds of touchpoints—from our mobile and desktop apps to the smart speakers, TVs, cars, and integrations where Spotify shows up every day. If it touches a consumer, we shape it. We bring deep insight into human behavior, design, and technology to craft experiences that feel intuitive, expressive, and unmistakably Spotify.
Core Experience shapes how millions of people discover, choose, and enjoy what to play on Spotify every day. Within Core Experience, our What to Play team builds the technology and shared capabilities that help Spotify deliver intuitive, reliable, and consistent listening experiences.
We’re looking for a Senior Technical Product Manager to shape the systems behind these experiences, from content distribution and mobile app architecture to shared user interface capabilities. You’ll work closely with engineering and cross-functional partners to improve how Spotify works today while building flexible, scalable foundations for the future.
What You’ll Do
- Define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for your area, connecting technical investments to listener needs and Spotify’s broader goals.
- Partner with engineering teams to explore technical solutions, evaluate trade-offs, and guide decisions that improve product performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Develop shared platform capabilities that help teams build consistent, high-quality experiences across Spotify.
- Improve the adoption and long-term value of platform capabilities by gathering feedback, measuring outcomes, and supporting teams that use them.
- Balance new product opportunities with technical improvements, including system performance, quality, simplification, and platform migrations.
- Collaborate with Design, Data Science, and User Research to understand user needs, define success measures, and make informed product decisions.
- Use experimentation, prototypes, technical exploration, and feedback to test ideas, learn quickly, and adapt your approach.
- Build alignment across teams by communicating priorities, dependencies, and trade-offs clearly, helping partners work toward shared outcomes.
Who You Are
- You have 5+ years of product management experience, including experience building or improving technical platforms, shared systems, or capabilities that support consumer products.
- You understand client and backend technologies and can work with engineers to connect technical decisions to user needs and business outcomes.
- You’re familiar with mobile development for iOS or Android, including areas such as app performance, reliability, user interface architecture, instrumentation, or design systems.
- You have experience guiding products or platforms beyond launch, improving adoption, managing technical debt, and supporting systems as needs evolve.
- You can evaluate technical trade-offs and make thoughtful decisions about when to improve existing systems, simplify solutions, or invest in new capabilities.
- You use data, research, experimentation, and sound judgment to make product decisions, including when traditional A/B testing isn’t the right approach.
- You communicate complex ideas clearly, welcome different perspectives, and build strong relationships across engineering, design, and data teams.
- You’re comfortable navigating ambiguity, taking ownership of complex challenges, and adapting your approach as you learn.
Where You’ll Be
We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! For this role, you can be within the EMEA region as long as we have a work location (excluding France due to on-call restrictions).
This team operates within the Central European and GMT time zone for collaboration.

Sample interview questions
I would start with the user and team problems, quantify their impact, and assess the technical constraints and opportunity cost. I would compare options using expected adoption, reliability and performance benefits, implementation effort, maintenance cost, and strategic alignment. I would then align partners on decision criteria and validate the highest-risk assumptions through discovery or a targeted prototype.
I would identify adoption barriers through interviews, usage data, and support requests, then prioritize improvements to documentation, APIs, migration tooling, and developer experience. I would partner with early adopters to demonstrate measurable value and establish clear success metrics such as active integrations, migration completion, and reduction in duplicated work. Regular feedback loops would help evolve the capability without imposing unnecessary standards.
I ensure the problem, customer impact, constraints, and desired outcomes are explicit before discussing solutions. I ask engineers to frame viable options, dependencies, risks, operational implications, and reversibility, then connect these factors to product goals. My role is not to prescribe implementation details but to enable an informed, timely decision with clear ownership and follow-up measures.
A/B testing may be unsuitable when changes affect platform reliability, have network effects, require broad system migration, create unacceptable user inconsistency, or lack enough traffic for meaningful results. In those cases, I would combine qualitative research, telemetry, controlled rollouts, performance benchmarks, usability studies, and pre-defined guardrail metrics. The evaluation method should match the decision risk and the kind of evidence needed.
I would make the trade-offs visible in the roadmap by linking technical work to customer experience, delivery speed, and operational risk. I would use evidence such as incident trends, latency metrics, engineering toil, and blocked product opportunities to prioritize investments. Rather than treating technical debt as separate from product work, I would define outcome-based initiatives that protect the platform while enabling future product delivery.
