Sample interview questions
I structure tests around clear business behavior and stable API or service contracts, using JUnit 5 for execution and reusable helpers for setup, assertions, and test data. I keep tests deterministic, run them in CI, and regularly remove duplication or brittle dependencies.
I first reproduce the issue and collect concise evidence such as logs, request payloads, environment details, and expected versus actual results. I then assess impact, create a clear defect report, work with developers on root cause analysis, and add or improve automated coverage to prevent recurrence.
I would confirm that key workflows, observability, baseline performance metrics, and test environments are in place. I would define measurable success criteria, identify realistic failure scenarios, execute tests incrementally, and use the findings to prioritize resilience improvements.
I ask for observable acceptance criteria, clarify edge cases and error handling, and identify required test data and interfaces early. This helps the team agree on how behavior will be validated before implementation begins.
I separate fast feedback tests from longer integration and end-to-end suites, quarantine and fix flaky tests promptly, and make failures easy to diagnose through meaningful reporting. I also monitor execution time and coverage trends so the suite remains dependable as the product evolves.
