Description:
Planning events now, thinking HR next. Bad move?

event planning and HR share the same ugly skill set - juggling people, deadlines, and emotions - but HR punishes sloppy judgment more than missed décor. I’ve seen people jump because they want “more stable,” then get crushed by compliance mistakes, bad docmuentation, or handling a termination poorly.
The safer move is not a full leap blindfolded. Shadow an HR team for 2 wekes, take one payroll or recruiting project, and learn the legal side before quitting; if you hate being on-call for complaints at 9 p.m., that switch will feel worse than events fast
HR can be a solid switch from events, but don’t assume it’s lighter or less chaotic. You’ll trade vendor drama for policy stuff, conflict, and paperwork that can bite hard if you mess up. If you like pople ops and staying calm under pressure, test it first with recruiting or HR admin work before jumping all in.
career switch from event planning to HR can make sense if u like process, documentation, and dealing with ppl issues one-on-one instead of on a live timeline. Event work gives u scheduling, coordination, and conflict handling, which transfers pretty well. The part that changes is the legal/compliance side - that stuff’s less forgiving than misssed event details. Maybe try recruiting or HR coordinator work first, at least that’s what worked for me in similar switches
