To Whom It May Concern,
A Colombian-born and raised, American citizen, I hold a Master’s Degree graduate in Public Administration with a concentration in Public Service: Leadership, Governance, and Policy and Nonprofit Organization Management and a Bachelor’s Degree graduate in Social and Behavioral Science and Theology with a Psychology minor at Seton Hall University, I have had the opportunity to develop a high level of concentration and organization, as well as, flexibility, diligence, and commitment to success through my work, courses, and assignments.
My professional experience as a teacher at Harvest English Institute and at Smart English Academy has allowed me the opportunity to work with a Spanish speaking population in an institution of higher education. On a daily basis, I utilize my interpersonal and collaboration skills, with adults of all ages from diverse cultures and backgrounds, speaking different languages. I planned lessons and effectively taught multiple ESL classes. My years as a Desk Assistant at Seton Hall University, also gave me the opportunity to work in a higher education setting, effectively working and communicating with students, parents and school personnel from diverse cultures and backgrounds, while maintaining integrity of their confidential information. Due to these work experiences, I am familiar and knowledgeable with student services and the policies, practices and procedures needed to successfully work in a university setting.
My clerical experience with human resources as a customer service agent at One Call Care Management, client service representative at Bank of America and sales associate of DolEx Dollar Express, Inc., helped me hone my effective and friendly customer service skills. I have proven results exceeding goals in a customer-centric, results-driven, fast-paced environment and have demonstrated the ability to influence and collaborate with others to achieve shared goals. I have honed my strong listening and problem analysis skills and can successfully build solid relationships with colleagues through teamwork and collaboration.
My passion is helping others, working with others, and conversing with others, and my work at the aforementioned jobs allowed me to do all of that, as well as engage with a vast and diverse group of people. My experiences also taught me the importance of being flexible, attentive, and able to work through challenges that may suddenly arise, while maintaining a positive and friendly demeanor. I have also worked effectively as a team player and collaborated with fellow employees, creating strong and successful partnerships. Through these jobs I honed my ability to pay attention to detail and developed a strong sense of responsibility, motivation, and leadership.
All of my experiences have allowed me to develop strong written, interpersonal, leadership, communication and customer service skills, as well as gain an appreciation for observing deadlines, taking initiative, being reliable and flexible, and conducting myself in a friendly, professional and proper manner. In addition, I am bilingual (Spanish/English) and am proficient in Microsoft Suite, as well as have a technology certificate.
With my personal and professional experiences of Public Administration, psychology, customer service and bilingual education roles, I am confident that I have the qualities, attitude, passion, understanding and experience necessary and beneficial to be a remote Spanish-English interpreter and customer service agent. I am comfortable, experienced and knowledgeable with the position requirements and it would be an honor to work with and for you and your company.
I realize your time is valuable. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Carlos Ortiz
