About me

I am a seasoned technical coordinator and senior technical translator with over 20 years of experience specializing in the Oil & Gas industry. My expertise lies in English-Russian translation and interpretation, particularly for complex Japan-Russia joint venture projects. I am PMP-certified, which has enabled me to effectively coordinate multifaceted projects and communicate with diverse stakeholders.

Throughout my career, I have developed custom translation tools using Python, such as TMXBuilder and ExcelTabsMerger, to streamline workflows and improve accuracy. I have also worked on training and fine-tuning NLLB models for specialized translation tasks, enhancing the quality and efficiency of language processing.

My skills extend beyond translation to project coordination, where I manage bilingual communication flows, maintain terminology consistency, and ensure confidentiality of sensitive technical documentation. I have extensive experience interpreting in technical workshops, site visits, and meetings, facilitating clear and accurate communication between English, Russian, and Japanese speakers.

I am proficient with a variety of CAT tools including Trados, memoQ, and Memsource, and have hands-on experience with AutoCAD and Python automation. My background also includes logistics coordination and materials management in drilling operations, which has given me a comprehensive understanding of the operational side of the Oil & Gas sector.

I am passionate about bridging language and cultural gaps in technical environments and continuously improving translation processes through technology and best practices. I am committed to delivering high-quality, publish-ready translations and ensuring smooth project execution through effective coordination and communication.

1997 - 1998 Exchange Program (Japanese Government-sponsored) @ University of Toyama

Experience

Sep 2013 - Present Technical Coordinator / Translator & Interpreter @ JASSOC

Delivered EN↔RU translations of engineering and oil & gas project documentation for Japan–Russia JV workstreams, ensuring technical accuracy and confidentiality across multiple revision cycles. Interpreted (consecutive & simultaneous) for technical workshops, site visits, and multi-disciplinary meetings; clarified terminology in real time so decisions and action items were captured accurately. Owned the bilingual communication flow end-to-end: collected inputs, ran clarification loops with SMEs, produced bilingual minutes/action logs, and handed over finalized deliverables to stakeholders. Implemented a repeatable terminology + QA routine (glossary/termbase maintenance, consistency checks, formatting review) to keep recurring document sets consistent and minimize rework from wording drift.

Sep 2009 - Apr 2014 Technical Translator & Interpreter @ Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC)

Produced EN↔RU translations for oil & gas project deliverables, including regulatory materials and production-data documentation, delivering publish-ready text aligned with agreed terminology. Interpreted for Board of Directors and Shareholders’ meetings (as required), enabling accurate bilingual discussion, decision-making, and official records. Protected sensitive corporate/technical information by applying strict confidentiality practices and maintaining consistent terminology across document sets. Resolved ambiguous source content via clarification cycles with subject-matter experts and documented agreed terms to keep subsequent deliverables consistent.

Jun 2008 - Sep 2009 Materials Coordinator @ Nabors Drilling

Managed end-to-end materials logistics for drilling operations (spares, consumables, critical parts): tracked inventory, raised procurement requests, and coordinated deliveries to rigs. Produced regular materials status/progress reports for site management, improving visibility for planning and budgeting decisions. Developed standardized inventory and status reports that gave site management clear visibility for budget planning and operational forecasting.

Mar 2005 - Jun 2008 Field Interpreter @ RUSIA Petroleum

Provided on-site EN↔RU interpretation for daily operational, safety, and HSE briefings at a gas field, ensuring clear and safe coordination between expatriate engineers and local Russian teams. Translated time-sensitive field documents, including daily drilling reports and equipment manuals, to support correct execution and compliance.

Mar 2004 - Mar 2005 Regional Sales Representative @ Wagner Siberia Equipment
Feb 2003 - Mar 2004 Eastern Siberia Regional Representative @ Samsung Electronics
