Software Engineering DoD 5000 C4ISR Java Python C# Agile Development TS/SCI Clearance System Engineering Acquisition

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am excited to apply for the Acquisition Software Engineer position at MANTECH. With over 10 years of experience in software engineering and a strong background in DoD 5000 processes, I am confident in my ability to support your Program Management Office effectively. My expertise in Java, Python, and C#, combined with my active TS/SCI clearance, aligns perfectly with the requirements of this role.

I have successfully supported system engineering technical reviews and developed engineering documentation for complex defense systems. My experience with C4ISR systems and agile development ensures I can contribute to the innovative solutions MANTECH delivers. I am particularly drawn to the opportunity to work remotely on a part-time basis while making a meaningful impact on national security.

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the possibility of discussing how my skills can benefit MANTECH's mission.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

Describe your experience with DoD 5000 acquisition processes and how you have applied them in previous roles.
In my previous role, I supported multiple acquisition programs by ensuring compliance with DoD 5000.01 and 5000.02. I prepared system engineering plans and participated in technical reviews such as SRR, PDR, and CDR. I also coordinated with program offices to manage engineering tasks and ensure milestones were met.
Can you provide an example of a complex software engineering problem you solved involving C4ISR systems?
I worked on a C4ISR system integration where we needed to merge data from multiple sensors. I led the development of a service-oriented architecture that allowed real-time data fusion. This involved using Java and Python to create APIs and ensure interoperability, which improved system responsiveness by 30%.
How do you handle competing priorities when supporting multiple engineering activities and programmatic milestones?
I prioritize tasks based on criticality and deadlines. I use project management tools to track progress and communicate regularly with stakeholders. For example, during a critical design review, I focused on documentation preparation while delegating routine tasks to team members to ensure timely completion.
What is your experience with Agile development methodologies in a defense context?
I have used Agile in several defense projects, adapting it to meet strict security and compliance requirements. I participated in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives. For instance, we used Scrum to develop a geospatial analysis tool, delivering incremental value to the customer while maintaining documentation for DoD reviews.
How do you ensure effective communication and coordination with internal and external stakeholders?
I establish clear communication channels and regular meetings. I provide status updates and technical briefs tailored to the audience. In one project, I coordinated with the government project office and subcontractors, using a shared portal for documentation and holding weekly syncs to resolve issues promptly.
