Key Skills

Payroll Implementation Global Payroll Team Leadership Project Management Process Improvement SAP/Workday Stakeholder Management Compliance Automation Asynchronous Communication

I am excited to apply for the Manager, Payroll Implementations - EMEA position at Remote. With over 8 years of experience managing global payroll implementations in high-growth environments, I have a proven track record of leading teams to deliver accurate and compliant payroll solutions on time. My expertise includes streamlining processes, leveraging tools like SAP and Workday, and fostering collaboration across Sales, Operations, and Product teams.

I am particularly drawn to Remote's mission of simplifying global employment and its commitment to innovation and automation. My leadership style focuses on empowering team members through trust and accountability, which aligns with Remote's async culture. I am confident that my skills in project management, stakeholder communication, and process improvement will contribute to your team's success.

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss how I can help Remote continue to define the future of work.

Can you describe your experience managing global payroll implementations across multiple countries?
I have led payroll implementations for clients in over 15 countries, including EMEA, APAC, and the Americas. This involved coordinating with local payroll providers, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and managing timelines and budgets. For example, I successfully onboarded a multinational client with 500 employees across 10 countries within a 6-month timeframe.
How do you ensure your team meets KPIs and SLAs while handling multiple projects?
I set clear expectations and use project management tools like Asana to track progress. Weekly check-ins help identify risks early, and I prioritize tasks based on impact and urgency. I also empower my team to escalate issues promptly, and I reallocate resources as needed to maintain performance.
Describe a time you improved a payroll implementation process. What was the outcome?
At my previous company, I noticed that the handoff between sales and implementation was causing delays. I created a standardized checklist and a transition meeting protocol, which reduced handoff time by 30% and improved data accuracy. This led to faster onboarding and higher client satisfaction.
How do you handle a complex compliance issue during an implementation?
I first gather all relevant information and consult with legal or local experts. Then, I communicate the issue transparently with the client and propose a solution that balances compliance and business needs. For instance, when a client needed a specific tax treatment in Germany, I worked with a local provider to implement a compliant solution without delaying the project.
How do you foster a culture of trust and accountability in a remote team?
I lead by example, being transparent about goals and challenges. I hold regular one-on-ones to understand each team member's strengths and development needs. I also encourage autonomy by clearly defining expectations and providing the necessary resources, while holding team members accountable through agreed-upon deliverables.
