Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to express my interest in the Key Account Manager position at Abbott Rapid Diagnostics UK. With over 8 years of experience in sales within the diagnostics and medical device industry, I have a proven track record of driving growth and building strong relationships with NHS and private healthcare stakeholders. My expertise in microbiology and antimicrobial susceptibility testing aligns perfectly with the requirements of this role.

In my previous role at XYZ Diagnostics, I successfully managed key accounts, exceeded sales targets by 20%, and led initiatives that improved product adoption in primary and secondary care settings. I am confident in my ability to implement Abbott's national strategies and drive long-term business opportunities.

I am particularly drawn to Abbott's commitment to innovation and its reputation as a great place to work. I am eager to contribute to your team and help Abbott lead in rapid diagnostic testing across the UK.

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss how my skills and experience can benefit Abbott.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

Can you describe your experience with microbiology and antimicrobial susceptibility testing in a sales context?
I have worked with rapid diagnostic tests for infectious diseases for over 5 years, including products for antimicrobial susceptibility. I regularly educated lab staff on the benefits of rapid testing and helped implement workflows that reduced turnaround times.
How do you approach building relationships with key stakeholders in the NHS?
I start by understanding each stakeholder's priorities, such as patient outcomes or cost savings. I then align our solutions to those goals, provide evidence from clinical studies, and maintain regular contact to ensure their needs are met.
Describe a time you successfully managed a long sales cycle. What strategies did you use?
I managed a £2M contract with a hospital trust over 18 months. I used a consultative approach, engaged multiple decision-makers, provided product trials, and built a business case showing ROI. Persistence and tailored communication were key.
How do you stay updated on changes in the UK healthcare system that might affect your sales strategy?
I subscribe to NHS newsletters, attend industry conferences, and maintain a network of contacts within the NHS. I also regularly review policy documents and adapt my strategy accordingly.
Can you give an example of a change initiative you drove in a customer-focused organization?
At my previous company, I led a transition from paper-based to digital ordering for diagnostic tests. I trained staff, addressed resistance by highlighting efficiency gains, and achieved full adoption within six months.
