Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to express my strong interest in the Consultant, Risk and Compliance position at Mercer. With over 5 years of experience in funds management and fund administration, I have developed a comprehensive understanding of operational due diligence, risk assessment, and compliance processes. My background includes evaluating trading lifecycle controls, NAV/valuation, and IT general controls, aligning closely with the responsibilities outlined in the job description.

I possess strong analytical and communication skills, enabling me to write detailed reports and present findings to senior leadership. My proficiency in English, both written and spoken, ensures effective collaboration with global teams. Additionally, I hold a degree in finance and am pursuing the CFA designation, which further enhances my qualifications for this role.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

Can you describe your experience with operational due diligence reviews of fund managers?
I have conducted over 20 ODD reviews of hedge funds and private equity firms, focusing on their trading processes, compliance monitoring, and NAV valuations. I used a risk-based approach to identify key control weaknesses and documented findings in detailed reports.
How do you assess IT general controls and cybersecurity posture during a due diligence review?
I evaluate access management by reviewing user access lists and segregation of duties, change management by examining approval processes and testing, and cybersecurity by assessing incident response plans, penetration testing results, and encryption practices.
Describe a time when you had to write a complex report on operational risks. What was your approach?
I once reviewed a fund administrator's reconciliation process and identified a material risk in fee calculations. I structured the report with an executive summary, detailed findings, and actionable recommendations, ensuring clarity for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
How do you prioritize tasks when managing multiple due diligence projects simultaneously?
I use a project management tool to track deadlines and deliverables, prioritize based on client urgency and regulatory requirements, and communicate proactively with team members to ensure alignment. For example, I once managed three concurrent reviews by delegating supporting tasks and setting weekly milestones.
What experience do you have with the Dasseti due diligence platform?
I have used Dasseti extensively for managing ODD questionnaires and tracking responses. I am proficient in creating custom workflows, analyzing data, and generating reports. This platform significantly improved efficiency in my previous role.
