SQL Data Analysis Logistics Supply Chain Dashboarding AI Tools Cross-functional Collaboration Data Modeling KPI Tracking Problem Solving

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to express my strong interest in the Data Analyst (Fulfillment) position at Nivoda. With over 3 years of experience in data analysis and advanced SQL proficiency, I am excited about the opportunity to optimize your global fulfillment operations.

In my previous role, I successfully built automated dashboards and wrote complex queries to identify bottlenecks, resulting in a 15% improvement in delivery speed. I am particularly drawn to Nivoda's innovative approach in the jewelry industry and its use of AI tools to accelerate analysis.

I look forward to the possibility of contributing to your team and driving data-informed decisions. Thank you for considering my application.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

Can you describe a time when you used SQL to uncover a bottleneck in a supply chain process? What was the outcome?
In my previous role, I analyzed shipping data using window functions to calculate transit times per route. I found that a specific carrier was consistently 2 days slower than others. I presented this to operations, and we switched to a faster carrier, reducing average delivery time by 20%.
How would you design a dashboard to track fulfillment KPIs for a global marketplace like Nivoda?
I would start by identifying key metrics: on-time delivery rate, shipping cost per order, transit time, and hub performance. I'd build a dashboard in Tableau or Power BI with filters for region, time period, and carrier. The dashboard would include trend lines, heatmaps for bottlenecks, and alerts for SLA breaches.
Explain how you would use AI tools to improve your data analysis workflow.
I use AI tools like ChatGPT to generate initial SQL queries or to automate repetitive tasks such as data cleaning. For example, I might use a Python script with an AI library to auto-detect anomalies in fulfillment data. This saves time and allows me to focus on deeper analysis.
Describe a situation where you had to analyze ambiguous data to find root causes of a problem.
Once, our fulfillment metrics showed a sudden spike in shipping costs. I investigated by joining order data with carrier invoices. I found that a new packaging process was causing dimensional weight discrepancies. I recommended reverting to the old packaging, which reduced costs by 10%.
How do you ensure data integrity when working with large datasets from multiple sources?
I implement data validation checks at each stage: source verification, transformation audits, and cross-referencing with known benchmarks. I also document any assumptions and work with data engineers to set up automated quality monitors.

About Nivoda

Nivoda’s growth trajectory has skyrocketed over the past 12 months, and we continue to expand across new regions at an unprecedented pace. Our DNA centers on understanding our customers’ needs and offering them a seamless experience. With a growing team based in major cities worldwide, including London, New York, Hong Kong, and Mumbai, Nivoda is becoming the go-to marketplace for the global jewelry industry.

We are bold, innovative, and relentless in our pursuit of excellence as we transform an industry steeped in tradition.

About the Role

Nivoda is looking for a talented Data Analyst to join our Global Fulfillment Team. In this role, you will be the primary analytical partner for our Fulfillment Department, ensuring that our supply chain, logistics, and delivery operations are optimized for speed, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.

You will bridge the gap between complex logistical data and actionable business strategy. The ideal candidate is a SQL expert who enjoys digging into messy data to find the “why” behind the numbers and who knows how to leverage modern AI tools to work faster and smarter. You will play a key role in monitoring fulfilment performance, identifying issues, and enabling the team to move faster with data.

What You’ll Do

  • Operational Optimization: Analyze fulfilment workflows to identify bottlenecks across the supply chain and propose data-backed solutions to improve delivery speed, cost efficiency, and reliability.

  • Reporting & Dashboards: Design, build, and maintain automated dashboards tracking key fulfillment KPIs, including shipping costs, transit times, SLA adherence, and hub performance. Ensure data is accurate, accessible, and actionable for stakeholders.

  • SQL & Data Analysis: Independently write and own complex SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyze large fulfilment datasets. Translate business questions into structured queries, build reusable data models, and ensure consistent KPI definitions across reporting.

  • Insights & Decision Support: Go beyond reporting to proactively identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities within fulfilment data. Generate clear, actionable insights and recommendations that drive operational and strategic decision-making.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Operations, Logistics, Product, and Data teams to understand pain points, support decision-making, and provide analytical input into key strategic initiatives.

  • Data Modeling: Work with Data Engineers to ensure fulfillment data is clean, well-structured, and scalable within the data warehouse, supporting long-term analytics and reporting needs.

  • Quality Assurance: Monitor data integrity across fulfilment systems, proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies to maintain trust in reporting and operational metrics.

  • Performance Monitoring: Track key fulfilment KPIs on an ongoing basis, proactively flagging issues, anomalies, and performance deviations. Investigate root causes using data and support continuous monitoring of courier performance, batching efficiency, and delivery speed to ensure consistent operational reliability.

  • Leverage AI Tools: Use AI tools to accelerate analysis, automate repetitive tasks and draft written outputs. We expect this person to be a practitioner of AI-assisted work, not just someone who is curious about it.

What You’ll Need

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in a Data Analyst or Business Analyst role

  • Advanced SQL: Strong proficiency writing complex, performant queries. Comfortable with joins, aggregations, window functions, and working with large datasets independently

  • Analytical Rigor: Proven ability to translate raw data into clear insights and recommendations that influence business decisions

  • Problem Solving: Ability to investigate ambiguous problems, identify root causes, and structure data-driven solutions

  • Domain Interest: Interest in logistics, e-commerce, marketplaces, or supply chain operations

Highly Desirable:

  • Modern Data Stack: Experience working with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake orBigQuery

  • Data Transformation: Exposure to tools like dbt or experience structuring reusable datasets/models

  • Visualization Tools: Experience building dashboards in Looker, Tableau, or Power BI
