Product Management Simulation AI CAE Fusion 360 Design Workflows Customer Insights Roadmap Planning Cross-functional Leadership Market Research

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am excited to apply for the Senior Product Manager - Product Design Simulation position at Autodesk. With over 8 years of experience in product management for engineering software, I have a strong track record of integrating simulation tools into design workflows. My background in mechanical engineering and AI product principles aligns perfectly with this role.

I have successfully led cross-functional teams to deliver AI-driven features that simplify complex analysis, increasing adoption among non-expert users. I am passionate about making simulation accessible and intuitive, and I thrive in collaborative environments.

I look forward to contributing to Autodesk's mission of empowering designers and engineers. Thank you for considering my application.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

How would you define the product strategy for integrating simulation into the design workflow for non-expert users?
I would start by understanding user personas and their pain points through interviews and data analysis. The strategy would focus on simplifying the simulation process using AI-driven automation and intuitive UX, embedding it seamlessly into the design phase. Prioritization would be based on impact and feasibility, with a roadmap that delivers incremental value.
Can you describe a time you used customer insights to prioritize features in a product roadmap?
In my previous role, I conducted user research that revealed designers were hesitant to use simulation due to complexity. I prioritized features like automated mesh generation and guided workflows, which increased adoption by 30% within six months.
How do you ensure responsible AI principles are embedded in product experiences?
I advocate for transparency by explaining how AI models make recommendations, incorporate human-in-the-loop validation, and continuously evaluate model performance for bias and accuracy. User trust is built through clear communication and control over AI decisions.
Describe your experience with simulation/CAE tools and how you've made them accessible to broader audiences.
I have worked with FEA and CFD tools, and previously led a project to create simplified simulation templates for non-experts. This involved collaborating with UX designers to create intuitive interfaces and using AI to suggest boundary conditions.
How would you evangelize simulation capabilities internally and externally?
Internally, I would create demos and workshops to showcase success stories and ROI. Externally, I would present at conferences, write blog posts, and engage with user communities to highlight how simulation accelerates innovation.

  • Conduct end-user interviews to uncover customer perceptions, problems and workflows
  • Develop long-term strategy, plans and prioritization in order to improve customer capabilities, satisfaction and to enhance Autodesk’s credibility
  • Track and understand business performance across regions and within context of changing market conditions

Key requirements for candidates:

  • Experience in product management, preferably in design, engineering, or manufacturing software
  • BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Computer Science
  • Strong understanding of product development workflows (consumer products preferred)
