TEAS Preparation HESI Preparation Nursing Education Test-Taking Strategies Remote Teaching Curriculum Design Student Engagement Zoom Facilitation Adult Learning Workshop Facilitation

I am excited to apply for the TEAS/HESI Exams Instructor position at Upswing. With over three years of experience teaching nursing entrance exam preparation and a strong background in health sciences, I am confident in my ability to deliver engaging, high-impact workshops that help students succeed.

In my previous role, I designed and facilitated interactive online sessions that improved student test scores by an average of 15%. I specialize in breaking down complex topics in math, science, and English into practical strategies, and I am adept at using Zoom features to foster participation.

I am particularly drawn to Upswing's commitment to accessible education and would be honored to contribute to your workshop series. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss how my skills align with your needs.

How do you adapt your teaching style for students with varying skill levels in a remote workshop setting?
I use pre-session surveys to gauge student confidence and tailor examples accordingly. During workshops, I incorporate polls and breakout rooms to address different levels, and I provide optional advanced practice questions for those who finish early.
Describe a time you had to handle a technical issue during a live online class. How did you keep students engaged?
Once, my audio cut out during a session. I quickly switched to the chat function to communicate, asked students to unmute to respond, and resumed once my audio was restored. I also used a backup hotspot to prevent future issues.
What is your approach to teaching test-taking strategies for the TEAS or HESI?
I focus on time management, question elimination, and stress reduction. For example, I teach students to read questions first, then scan passages for keywords, and practice with timed quizzes to build speed.
How do you make a subject like science engaging for students who may find it intimidating?
I use real-world analogies, such as comparing cellular respiration to a car engine, and incorporate interactive activities like virtual lab simulations. I also celebrate small wins to build confidence.
Can you provide an example of a successful workshop you've led and what made it effective?
I led a series on math fundamentals for nursing exams. I used a 'problem of the day' approach, where students submitted answers via chat, then I walked through solutions step-by-step. Attendance remained high, and post-workshop surveys rated the sessions 4.8/5.
