How would you approach building relationships with key decision-makers in veterinary clinics within your territory?
I would start by researching each clinic's needs and pain points, then schedule introductory meetings to understand their goals. I would provide value through technical insights and tailored business propositions, ensuring consistent follow-up and support to build trust.
Describe a time you exceeded sales targets in a territory. What strategies did you use?
In my previous role, I implemented targeted joint business plans with top accounts, focusing on cross-selling and upselling. I also conducted in-clinic training sessions to increase product awareness. This led to a 15% increase in sales within six months.
How do you stay updated on veterinary nutrition and industry trends?
I regularly attend veterinary conferences, subscribe to industry journals like JAVMA, and participate in online webinars. I also leverage company-provided training materials to stay current with Hill's product innovations and scientific research.
Explain how you would manage a territory with multiple high-priority accounts and limited time. What would be your prioritization strategy?
I would use account segmentation based on potential and current revenue, focusing more time on high-value accounts. I schedule regular business reviews and maintain a call frequency plan to ensure all accounts receive adequate attention. I also leverage CRM tools to track activities and optimize routing.
How would you handle a situation where a veterinarian is resistant to recommending your product?
I would first listen to their concerns and understand the root cause. Then, I would provide clinical data, case studies, and possibly a trial period to demonstrate efficacy. I would also offer to conduct a training session for the clinic staff to address any knowledge gaps.
