Compliance Asset Management APAC Regulatory Risk Assessment Stakeholder Management Legal Advisory Policy Development Conflicts of Interest Investigations Regulatory Change

Dear Hiring Team,

I am writing to express my strong interest in the Senior Compliance Consultant role at Axiom. With over 8 years of compliance experience in the asset management industry and a law degree, I have developed deep expertise in APAC regulatory regimes and global compliance frameworks. I have successfully led regional compliance functions, managed conflicts of interest, and driven regulatory change initiatives.

In my previous role at a multinational asset manager, I served as the APAC compliance lead, advising on complex regulatory matters and collaborating with legal and business teams to implement practical solutions. I am skilled in conducting risk assessments, enhancing policies, and overseeing regulatory reviews. I am particularly drawn to Axiom's flexible work model and commitment to diversity.

I am eager to bring my strategic and hands-on approach to Axiom's global team. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss how I can contribute to your clients' success.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

Describe your experience managing conflicts of interest in an asset management context.
In my previous role, I developed and implemented a global conflicts of interest framework. I worked with the business to identify potential conflicts, created disclosure protocols, and established a review committee. I also trained staff on identifying and escalating conflicts, ensuring compliance with APAC regulations.
How do you stay updated on APAC regulatory changes and assess their impact on the business?
I subscribe to regulatory alerts from major APAC jurisdictions, participate in industry working groups, and maintain close relationships with legal and compliance peers. When a change occurs, I conduct a gap analysis, assess the impact on our products and operations, and collaborate with relevant teams to implement necessary adjustments.
Can you give an example of a risk assessment you designed for a compliance program?
I designed a risk assessment methodology for anti-money laundering that included inherent risk factors like product complexity and client geography. I used data analytics to score each business unit, identified high-risk areas, and recommended enhanced due diligence and monitoring procedures.
How would you handle a situation where a business unit wants to proceed with an activity that poses a compliance risk?
First, I would understand their objectives and the nature of the risk. Then, I would clearly explain the regulatory implications and potential consequences. I would work with them to find a compliant alternative or mitigating controls. If necessary, I would escalate to senior management with a risk assessment and recommendation.
Describe your experience with regulatory reviews or examinations in APAC.
I have led multiple regulatory examinations in Hong Kong and Singapore. I prepared the team by gathering documentation, briefing key stakeholders, and participating in walkthroughs. During the review, I acted as the primary point of contact and ensured timely responses to regulator queries. Post-review, I oversaw the remediation of findings and reported to senior management.
