Subrogation Commercial Insurance Health Plans Team Management Remote Leadership ERISA Compliance Medicare Advantage Medicaid MCO Process Improvement Revenue Recovery

I am writing to apply for the Commercial Subrogation Manager position at Gainwell Technologies. With over five years of experience managing subrogation teams and a strong background in commercial health plans, I am confident in my ability to drive recoveries and build effective workflows.

In my previous role, I led a remote team of seven subrogation specialists, achieving a 20% increase in revenue through process improvements and cross-functional collaboration. I am well-versed in ERISA, Taft-Hartley, and government programs, ensuring compliance and maximizing results for clients.

I am excited about the opportunity to create a new team at Gainwell and contribute to your mission of improving health outcomes. My leadership style focuses on mentorship and data-driven performance, aligning with your goals for growth and client satisfaction.

I look forward to discussing how my experience can support your commercial subrogation initiatives. Thank you for your consideration.

Describe your experience managing a remote team of subrogation professionals. How did you ensure productivity and quality?
I managed a fully remote team of six by implementing daily check-ins, clear KPIs, and regular training. I used performance dashboards to track progress and held weekly one-on-ones to address challenges, which maintained a 95% quality score and met revenue targets.
How would you approach creating a new subrogation process for a commercial client?
I would start by understanding the client's specific plan types and legal requirements, then map out the claim lifecycle. I'd involve the team in designing workflows, set clear milestones, and test the process with a pilot group before full rollout, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
Explain a time you had to resolve a conflict between your team and a client. What was the outcome?
A client was dissatisfied with recovery timelines. I facilitated a meeting, listened to their concerns, and proposed a revised prioritization plan with weekly updates. The client appreciated the transparency, and we improved turnaround times by 15%.
What legal considerations are key in commercial subrogation, especially with ERISA plans?
ERISA preemption rules, the 'make whole' doctrine, and anti-subrogation clauses are critical. I ensure the team is trained on these and works closely with legal to avoid violations, always prioritizing compliance over aggressive recovery.
How do you stay updated on changes in subrogation laws and industry trends?
I subscribe to industry publications like Subrogation Quarterly, attend webinars, and participate in professional groups. I also encourage my team to share insights and hold monthly learning sessions to keep everyone informed.
