Key Skills

QA Engineering Automation Testing Cypress Playwright JavaScript PHP Postman CI/CD API Testing Laravel

I am excited to apply for the QA Engineer position at Workwize. With over 4 years of experience in quality assurance and a strong background in automation testing using Cypress and Playwright, I am confident in my ability to drive the quality of your SaaS platform. I have a proven track record of implementing shift-left testing strategies and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust software. I am particularly drawn to Workwize's mission of equipping global teams with IT equipment and its innovative culture.

Can you describe your experience with automated end-to-end testing and how you have implemented it in a previous role?
In my previous role, I automated end-to-end tests for a React application using Cypress. I created test suites covering critical user flows like login, product search, and checkout. I integrated these tests into our CI/CD pipeline using GitHub Actions, ensuring they ran on every pull request. This reduced regression testing time by 60% and caught issues early.
How do you approach shift-left testing and embedding quality early in the development process?
I advocate for involving QA from the requirement gathering phase. I collaborate with product owners and developers to define acceptance criteria and identify edge cases early. During design reviews, I provide input on testability and suggest mocking strategies. I also promote writing unit tests and integration tests alongside feature development, so quality is built in from the start.
Explain how you manage bugs and conduct root cause analysis. Can you provide an example?
I use a structured approach: reproduce the bug, isolate the cause, and document it. For instance, once a flaky test caused intermittent failures in our CI. I analyzed logs, determined the test depended on a timing issue, and fixed it by adding proper waits and assertions. I then updated the test guidelines to prevent similar issues.
Given our tech stack (Laravel, React, AWS), how would you design an automation framework for both API and UI testing?
I would use Playwright for UI tests and Postman/Newman for API tests. The framework would be modular with reusable components. I'd create a test environment in AWS (e.g., using EC2 or Docker) that mirrors production. Tests would be triggered via GitHub Actions on each commit. Data setup would be automated using seeding scripts or API calls to ensure consistency.
How do you prioritize which tests to automate and which to keep manual?
I prioritize automating high-risk, repetitive, and critical user journeys. Manual testing is reserved for exploratory, usability, and ad-hoc scenarios. I also consider the cost of maintenance; stable features with clear acceptance criteria are automated first. I use risk-based testing to align with business priorities.
