Dear Hiring Manager,

I am excited to apply for the Electrical Designer position at MANTECH. With over 3 years of experience designing electrical systems for naval applications, I bring strong proficiency in AutoCAD and a deep understanding of ABYC and Navy codes. My background includes creating schematics, performing load calculations, and collaborating with engineering teams to ensure design integrity. I am drawn to MANTECH's mission of supporting national security and am confident in my ability to contribute to the NSWC Combatant Craft Division. Thank you for considering my application.

Sincerely, [Your Name]

Can you describe your experience with AutoCAD for electrical design, particularly for shipboard systems?
I have used AutoCAD extensively to create detailed electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and wiring layouts for Navy small boats. I am proficient in layer management, block creation, and ensuring drawings comply with MIL-STD-100 and ABYC standards.
How do you ensure your designs comply with ABYC, Navy, and DoD electrical codes?
I stay updated on code revisions and reference them during design. I perform thorough checks on load calculations, component selections, and grounding schemes. I also collaborate with senior engineers for peer reviews to ensure compliance.
Describe a challenging electrical design project you worked on and how you overcame obstacles.
I once redesigned a power distribution system for a patrol boat to fit new electronics while maintaining weight balance. The challenge was space constraints. I used 3D modeling to optimize layout and coordinated with the mechanical team to resolve conflicts, ensuring all safety margins were met.
How do you collaborate with engineers and waterfront technicians to resolve design conflicts?
I maintain open communication through regular meetings and site visits. When conflicts arise, I present data-driven alternatives and discuss trade-offs. I value hands-on input from technicians to understand real-world constraints and adjust designs accordingly.
Why are you interested in this role at MANTECH, and how does your experience align with our mission?
I am passionate about supporting national defense and have a strong background in naval electrical systems. MANTECH's reputation for innovative solutions and long-term partnership with the DoD aligns with my career goals. My experience with Navy small boats and AutoCAD makes me a great fit for this role.
