Contract Management Warranty Administration Claims Management Commercial Negotiation Risk Management Offshore Wind Energy Sector Stakeholder Engagement Strategic Planning Cross-functional Collaboration

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to express my interest in the Customer Contract Manager - Offshore Wind position at GE Vernova. With over 10 years of experience in commercial management within the energy sector, I have successfully led warranty and claims negotiations for large-scale offshore wind projects. My expertise in contract risk assessment and strategic partnership development aligns well with your needs.

In my previous role, I managed warranty frameworks for complex supply agreements, achieving significant margin preservation through effective claim resolution. I am adept at collaborating cross-functionally to drive risk mitigation strategies and optimize contractual outcomes. I am confident that my skills can add value to your team.

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss how I can contribute to GE Vernova's success.

Sincerely, [Your Name]

Describe your experience managing warranty claims in large-scale energy projects.
I led warranty claims for a 500 MW offshore wind farm, handling over 50 claims related to turbine defects and performance issues. I developed a structured process for documenting, analyzing, and negotiating claims with suppliers and clients, resulting in a 30% reduction in liability exposure.
How do you approach negotiating complex contract terms with stakeholders?
I prioritize understanding each party's interests and risk tolerance. I prepare by thoroughly analyzing contract terms and market benchmarks. During negotiations, I focus on creating win-win solutions, such as adjusting warranty periods or sharing performance data to build trust.
Can you give an example of a time you identified and mitigated a contractual risk?
In a turbine supply agreement, I noticed ambiguous language regarding liquidated damages. I worked with legal to clarify terms, ensuring the client couldn't claim penalties for delays caused by force majeure. This saved the company $2 million in potential liabilities.
How do you collaborate with engineering and operations teams on warranty issues?
I establish regular cross-functional meetings to review warranty trends and root causes. For example, when a recurring blade defect surfaced, I coordinated with engineering to analyze failure data and with operations to implement corrective actions, reducing future claims.
What strategies do you use to manage customer expectations regarding warranty scope?
I provide clear documentation of warranty exclusions and remedies upfront. During project execution, I proactively communicate any changes and negotiate scope adjustments. This transparency builds credibility and minimizes disputes.
