Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to express my interest in the Product Owner I position at Liberty Mutual. With a strong background in agile product management and experience in regulatory compliance within the insurance industry, I am confident in my ability to drive the delivery of scalable form solutions. My expertise in backlog prioritization and stakeholder collaboration aligns well with the high-throughput environment of your Forms Development team. I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to Liberty Mutual's mission of bringing policy forms to market accurately and efficiently.

How do you prioritize items in a product backlog when faced with multiple stakeholders and regulatory deadlines?
I use a value-based framework, considering business impact, regulatory urgency, and cost of delay. I collaborate with stakeholders to align on priorities and ensure compliance items are addressed first. I also leverage data and feedback to continuously refine the backlog.
Describe a time you had to manage conflicting stakeholder expectations. How did you resolve it?
In a previous role, two departments had competing priorities for a forms update. I facilitated a meeting to discuss trade-offs, used impact analysis, and proposed a phased approach that satisfied both parties. Regular communication and transparency helped maintain trust.
How do you ensure that the delivered product meets regulatory compliance requirements?
I work closely with compliance teams to understand requirements and incorporate them into acceptance criteria. I also conduct regular reviews and testing to verify compliance, and maintain documentation for audit trails.
Can you explain your experience with agile delivery at scale?
I have worked in SAFe environments, participating in PI planning and coordinating across multiple teams. I manage dependencies and align priorities with program increment goals to ensure coherent delivery.
How do you handle a situation where a sprint goal is at risk due to unforeseen complexities?
I first assess the impact and communicate transparently with the team and stakeholders. I then reprioritize the backlog, potentially deferring lower-value items, and negotiate a revised scope. I also conduct a retrospective to prevent similar issues.
