Dear Hiring Team,

I am writing to express my interest in the Alliances & Channels Leader position at Canonical. With over 12 years of experience in building and scaling strategic partnerships for technology companies, I am confident in my ability to drive revenue growth and market expansion for Ubuntu.

In my previous role as Director of Global Alliances at a leading open source firm, I successfully managed relationships with top cloud providers and system integrators, resulting in a 40% increase in partner-sourced revenue. I have deep expertise in developing joint go-to-market strategies, enabling sales teams, and fostering executive-level engagement.

Canonical's mission to bring open source to enterprise aligns perfectly with my background and passion. I am eager to contribute to your partner ecosystem and deliver measurable impact.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

Describe your experience managing complex partner ecosystems. How do you prioritize which partners to invest in?
I use a tiered partner segmentation based on revenue potential, strategic alignment, and mutual value. For tier-1 partners (e.g., major cloud providers), I invest in joint business planning, executive sponsors, and co-marketing. For tier-2, I focus on enablement and targeted campaigns. I regularly review KPIs like pipeline contribution and co-sell revenue to adjust priorities.
How would you approach building a new channel program for Ubuntu?
First, I would conduct market analysis to identify key gaps and opportunities. Then, define program goals (e.g., revenue targets, partner recruitment). Design tiered partner benefits, training, and certification. Implement a PRM system to track performance. Launch with a pilot group, measure results, iterate, and then scale.
Tell us about a time you resolved a conflict between a partner and your internal sales team.
We had a dispute with a global system integrator over deal registration. I facilitated a meeting with both teams, established clear deal registration rules, and set up a joint pipeline review process. This increased transparency and trust, leading to a 20% rise in co-sold deals.
How do you ensure partner enablement across different regions and cultures?
I create region-specific enablement plans that account for local market conditions and language. Leverage virtual training, on-site workshops, and a partner portal with localized content. Assign regional partner managers to provide personalized support and gather feedback.
What metrics do you use to measure the success of an alliance partnership?
Key metrics include partner-sourced revenue, influenced pipeline, joint customer wins, partner satisfaction (survey), and time-to-ramp for new partners. I also track co-marketing ROI and enablement completion rates.
