Sample interview questions
Can you describe a time when you managed a complex power delivery project from initiation to closure?

I led a transmission line project that involved multiple stakeholders, tight deadlines, and a budget of $50 million. I implemented a rigorous schedule and risk management plan, which helped us complete the project on time and under budget while maintaining quality and safety standards.

How do you handle scope changes in a project?

I follow a formal change management process: document the change, assess its impact on schedule and budget, and obtain approval from stakeholders before implementing. This ensures transparency and control over project scope.

Describe your experience with SCADA and telecommunications in power projects.

I have managed several projects involving SCADA upgrades and fiber optic communications for substations. I coordinated with engineering teams to integrate these systems and ensured they met client specifications and reliability standards.

How do you prioritize tasks when managing multiple concurrent projects?

I use a prioritization matrix based on urgency and impact, and I maintain a clear communication cadence with stakeholders. I also delegate effectively and leverage project management tools to track progress and identify bottlenecks.

Can you give an example of how you built a strong client relationship?

I established regular check-ins and provided transparent reporting on project status. When issues arose, I proactively communicated solutions. This built trust and led to repeat business and referrals.
