Cover letter sample

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am excited to apply for the Senior Pre-Sales Engineer position at Deepgram. With a strong background in solutions engineering and voice AI technologies, I have successfully led complex technical evaluations and POCs for enterprise customers, translating business goals into measurable technical wins. I am particularly drawn to Deepgram's mission to power the Voice AI economy and its AI-first culture, which aligns with my passion for leveraging cutting-edge tools.

Throughout my career, I have bridged sales and engineering, building prototypes, advising on architecture, and ensuring seamless customer adoption from discovery to production. I also bring hands-on experience with APAC data privacy regulations, including PDPA and APPI, which I know are critical for Deepgram's expanding client base. I thrive in fast-paced environments and am eager to drive innovation and customer success across the region.

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to discussing how I can contribute to Deepgram's growth.

Sincerely,

[Your Name]

Sample interview questions
Can you describe a time you designed and executed a successful proof of concept for a complex enterprise customer?

In a previous role, I worked with a large financial services client evaluating a speech-to-text solution for compliance monitoring. I led discovery to map their key metrics—accuracy on industry-specific jargon and latency under high volume—then designed a POC using a pilot dataset. I set clear success thresholds, coordinated with product and engineering to resolve initial issues, and presented results that showed a 25% accuracy improvement over their existing solution. This led to a full production deployment.

How would you approach handling security and compliance requirements from a prospect in Singapore (PDPA) and Japan (APPI) for a voice AI deployment?

I would start by engaging the prospect's security and legal teams early to understand their specific data residency, consent, and cross-border transfer requirements. For PDPA, I'd ensure that data processing agreements cover purpose limitation and consent mechanisms, and for APPI, I'd address the need for explicit consent and possibly appoint a local data protection officer. I would also work with Deepgram's engineering team to clarify deployment options, such as on-premises or region-specific cloud hosting, and prepare clear documentation for each regulation.

How do you handle a technical evaluation where the customer's expectations on accuracy are unrealistic?

I believe in setting realistic expectations from the start. I would use the discovery phase to understand their use case, then provide benchmark data and run a quick pilot on their own data to demonstrate actual accuracy. If the gap remains, I would discuss trade-offs between accuracy, latency, and cost, and propose alternative approaches like custom language models or tuning parameters. The goal is to find a mutually acceptable solution that still delivers measurable value.

Describe how you would build a reusable asset from a repeated request, such as a reference architecture for a common use case.

I would identify the common patterns across multiple customer engagements—for example, a voice agent for customer service. I would then design a reference architecture that includes best practices for API integration, scaling, and security, and create sample code and deployment scripts. After packaging it into a clear guide, I'd share it with the broader field team and update it based on feedback and new features. This reduces ramp-up time for new deals and ensures consistency.

How do you balance the need to move quickly in pre-sales with ensuring customer success long-term?

Moving quickly is important, but I never sacrifice the foundational steps that ensure long-term success. I prioritize discovery to understand the customer's business goals, which speeds up later phases by reducing rework. During the POC, I focus on the critical success factors and set clear timelines, while also documenting any risks or open questions. After the sale, I maintain continuity by staying involved during the early launch and providing a clear handoff to support teams, ensuring the customer sees ongoing value.

Company Operating Rhythm

At Deepgram, we expect an AI-first mindset—AI use and comfort aren’t optional, they’re core to how we operate, innovate, and measure performance.

Every team member who works at Deepgram is expected to actively use and experiment with advanced AI tools, and even build your own into your everyday work. We measure how effectively AI is applied to deliver results, and consistent, creative use of the latest AI capabilities is key to success here. Candidates should be comfortable adopting new models and modes quickly, integrating AI into their workflows, and continuously pushing the boundaries of what these technologies can do.

Additionally, we move at the pace of AI. Change is rapid, and you can expect your day-to-day work to evolve just as quickly. This may not be the right role if you’re not excited to experiment, adapt, think on your feet, and learn constantly, or if you’re seeking something highly prescriptive with a traditional 9-to-5.

Note: this role is based out of Singapore and will service the APAC region.

Opportunity

Deepgram is expanding across APAC and operating a follow-the-sun model. We are hiring a Pre-Sales Solutions Engineer in India to win complex technical evaluations, design clear solution paths, and drive repeatable adoption for strategic accounts. Our strategic Account Executives do not hand off their customers after the first sale, so you will partner long term across discovery, POC, production launch, and expansion. You will focus on pre-sales, and you will often step into post-sales style work when the stakes are high and continuity matters.
