Cover letter sample

Dear Hiring Team,

I am excited to apply for the Senior Account Manager, EMEA position at Remote. With over X years of experience in B2B SaaS account management, I have consistently grown existing accounts through strategic cross-selling and upselling across multiple product lines. My ability to build strong relationships with C-level and senior stakeholders aligns perfectly with this role's emphasis on multi-threaded deal management.

I am particularly drawn to Remote's mission of simplifying global employment and its innovative, async-first culture. I have a proven track record of owning renewals, driving net-new expansion bookings, and using sales methodologies like MEDPICC to qualify and progress opportunities. I am confident in my ability to act as a trusted advisor to your clients while operating autonomously in a distributed environment.

I look forward to contributing to Remote's growth and would welcome the opportunity to discuss how my experience can add value.

Sincerely, [Your Name]

Sample interview questions
Can you describe a time when you successfully cross-sold a new product to an existing client? What was your approach?

In my previous role, I identified a client using only our core EOR service but with expanding global hiring needs. I mapped their business goals, engaged their finance and legal stakeholders, and demonstrated how adding Global Payroll would streamline their processes and reduce compliance risk. I collaborated with a specialist to tailor the pitch, leading to a multi-year expansion contract.

How do you manage multiple complex accounts and prioritize your activities in a fast-paced environment?

I rely on a disciplined approach using CRM tools to track account health, pipelines, and upcoming renewals. I categorize opportunities based on revenue potential and urgency, ensuring I dedicate time to high-value deals while maintaining regular check-ins with other accounts. I also use time-blocking and clear follow-up protocols to stay on top of activities across time zones.

Tell me about a challenging stakeholder situation. How did you win their trust and move the deal forward?

Once, a client's CFO was skeptical about our global payroll solution's ROI. I arranged a discovery meeting to understand their specific pain points, then presented a customized business case with comparative data and a phased implementation plan. I kept the CFO updated with transparent progress reports, which built credibility and led to a successful contract renewal and upsell.

How do you apply a sales methodology like MEDPICC to your account management process?

I use MEDPICC to qualify and prioritize opportunities by identifying Metrics, Economic Buyer, Decision criteria, Paper process, Implication of pain, Competition, and Champion. In account management, this helps me understand which deals to pursue, who to engage, and what evidence is needed to advance the sale. It also ensures I don't waste resources on unqualified opportunities.

What strategies do you use to stay current with product offerings and industry trends in global employment?

I regularly read industry reports, participate in webinars, and engage with internal product teams to learn about new features. I also follow key HR and payroll regulations across different countries to understand challenges clients face. This proactive learning allows me to position Remote's solutions as effective answers to evolving client needs.

What this job can offer you

This is an exciting time to join Remote and make a personal difference in the global employment space as a Senior Account Manager, joining our Existing Business team. In this role, you’ll manage and grow a portfolio of existing customers across Remote’s full product suite — including EOR, Global Payroll, Contractor of Record (COR), and other solutions — expanding relationships with complex, multi-stakeholder organizations.

You’ll be a trusted advisor to senior buyers, comfortable navigating multi-threaded deals, and driven to find the right solution for the customer rather than getting stuck on obstacles along the way. As a senior member of the team, you’ll also have the opportunity to share best practice with peers and help shape how Existing Business approaches multi-product growth.

What you bring

  • You can demonstrate a strong track record of growing existing accounts, owning renewals, driving net-new expansion bookings, and cross-selling or upselling across multiple product lines (e.g. EOR, Global Payroll, COR, and other Remote solutions)
  • You can show success building and multi-threading relationships across an account — engaging economic buyers, budget holders, and technical/functional stakeholders in parallel, rather than relying on a single point of contact
  • You’re comfortable selling to and building trust with senior stakeholders (VP/C-level, Legal, Finance, HR/People leadership), and can adapt the conversation to what matters to each
  • You have working knowledge of, or a strong aptitude to quickly learn, a structured sales methodology such as MEDPICC to qualify and progress opportunities with rigor
  • You can demonstrate strong sales process discipline, including pipeline development, forecasting, and accurate reporting across a multi-product portfolio
  • You bring a solutions-oriented mindset — quick to focus on what can be done and how to move a deal or relationship forward
  • You think like a deal strategist — you look for creative ways to structure multi-product deals and adapt the structure to what the customer actually needs
  • You’re highly self-directed and comfortable navigating with a lot of autonomy — Remote is a distributed, async, multi-timezone environment, and you take ownership of your own follow-ups, keeping things moving smoothly across time zones and channels
  • You’re genuinely curious and eager to learn, comfortable picking up new products, markets, and use cases as Remote’s portfolio evolves
  • You have an in-depth understanding of Remote’s services and its position in the industry, with the curiosity to keep that knowledge current
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with business fluency in English

Desirable characteristics

  • Highly self-motivated, with ambitions to grow into a closing-focused role
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and juggling multiple concurrent, multi-threaded deals without losing momentum
  • Strong business acumen, able to speak credibly to commercial, legal, and HR stakeholders alike
  • High level of integrity and work ethic
  • Experience selling into HR, People, or Total Rewards buyers — not a dealbreaker, but a plus at this seniority
  • Background navigating more complex, non-standard contracting models (e.g., Employer of Record or similar) — this isn’t a straightforward SaaS license sale

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet and exceed sales quota based on role level, managing the entire sales cycle — including renewals — across Remote’s product portfolio (EOR, Payroll, COR, and beyond)
  • Provide support and coaching to the wider team as a Senior Account Manager, sharing best practice on multi-product deals, stakeholder mapping, and MEDPICC-based qualification
  • Identify new expansion, upsell, and cross-sell opportunities across products and progress them through the full sales cycle
  • Multi-thread accounts proactively — building relationships with multiple stakeholders (economic buyers, champions, influencers) rather than relying on a single contact
  • Present Remote’s full suite of services to existing customers, positioning the right combination of products for each customer’s evolving needs
  • Own the customer relationship end-to-end, from opportunity identification through to closed business and successful handover
  • Understand the distinct communication needs of mid-market and enterprise customers, and design multi-product solutions to meet those needs
  • Generate customer retention initiatives and participate in key strategic events to nurture and expand customer relationships
  • Bring a solutions-first approach to internal and external challenges — surfacing issues briefly and constructively, then focusing energy on next steps and resolutions
  • Work with cross-functional teams (Legal, Onboarding, Product, Customer Success) to ensure customer success across all product lines

Practicals

  • You’ll report to: Senior Manager, Sales – Account Management
  • Direct reports: none (IC role)
  • Team: Sales – Expansion Sales
  • Location: EMEA
  • Start date: As soon as possible
