Sample interview questions
I would begin by assessing the student's academic record, clinical exposure, service interests, career certainty, learning preferences, and tolerance for a structured undergraduate pathway. I would then compare those factors with the specific program structures, progression requirements, medical-school affiliations, and traditional pre-med alternatives so the student can make an informed decision.
I first identify the core themes, experiences, and evidence of reflection that are genuinely distinctive to the student. I provide actionable feedback on structure, clarity, specificity, and alignment with each prompt while preserving the student's authentic voice rather than rewriting the essay for them.
I create a milestone-based plan for each student that maps school lists, drafts, recommendations, testing, and interview preparation against submission dates. I use centralized tracking tools, establish clear turnaround expectations, and proactively flag risks so urgent work is prioritized without losing sight of longer-term strategy.
I would monitor changes to program eligibility, testing policies, application requirements, interview formats, acceptance patterns, and institutional priorities. I would also track developments in pre-med advising and healthcare-related experiential expectations to ensure recommendations remain current and practical.
I would help the student articulate a mature but appropriately flexible motivation for medicine, connect their experiences to their goals, and discuss ethical or healthcare topics with nuance. Through structured mock interviews and feedback, I would strengthen concise communication, reflective listening, and the ability to respond authentically under pressure.
