Sample interview questions
I would begin by identifying the business outcome, target users, current workflow, success metrics, timeline, and buying stakeholders. I would then map technical requirements such as audio sources, languages, latency, accuracy, scale, security, deployment model, and integration constraints. I would summarize the findings into an agreed solution hypothesis and define a focused proof-of-concept plan with measurable acceptance criteria.
I would first define the agent journey and the metrics that matter, such as transcription latency, turn-taking quality, accuracy, and task completion. I would create a minimal end-to-end reference implementation using streaming speech-to-text, the customer's orchestration layer or LLM workflow, and text-to-speech where appropriate. I would instrument the solution, test representative audio conditions, document tradeoffs, and present results alongside a production architecture and rollout recommendations.
For engineering leaders, I use architecture diagrams, API flows, authentication requirements, performance assumptions, and implementation examples. For business stakeholders, I focus on the customer experience, operational impact, risk reduction, and measurable value enabled by the integration. I validate understanding with both groups and connect technical decisions directly to their agreed business objectives.
I would clarify the specific concern, its business impact, and the acceptance threshold rather than responding with generic claims. Then I would provide relevant architecture guidance, documentation, benchmark methodology, and, where useful, a scoped validation test using representative conditions. I would communicate limitations transparently and work with internal engineering or product partners when a customer requirement needs deeper review.
I align early on account goals, stakeholder map, qualification criteria, competitive context, and the technical risks that could delay the deal. During engagement, I lead discovery and solution validation while keeping the AE informed of customer signals, next steps, and any gaps requiring commercial or executive action. I also help maintain a mutual action plan so technical work supports the buying process rather than becoming an open-ended evaluation.

Company Operating Rhythm
At Deepgram, we expect an AI-first mindset—AI use and comfort aren’t optional, they’re core to how we operate, innovate, and measure performance.
Every team member who works at Deepgram is expected to actively use and experiment with advanced AI tools, and even build your own into your everyday work. We measure how effectively AI is applied to deliver results, and consistent, creative use of the latest AI capabilities is key to success here. Candidates should be comfortable adopting new models and modes quickly, integrating AI into their workflows, and continuously pushing the boundaries of what these technologies can do.
Additionally, we move at the pace of AI. Change is rapid, and you can expect your day-to-day work to evolve just as quickly. This may not be the right role if you’re not excited to experiment, adapt, think on your feet, and learn constantly, or if you’re seeking something highly prescriptive with a traditional 9-to-5.
Note: This individual must be based within either Eastern or Pacific Time in the US.
