Sample interview questions
I begin by defining a small set of consistent operating metrics, reviewing location-level variance, and identifying the root causes behind underperformance. I partner with local leaders on practical action plans, coach them regularly, and track progress through clear weekly follow-ups. This approach creates accountability while allowing solutions to reflect local operating realities.
I use structured development plans that combine performance expectations, regular coaching, stretch assignments, and measurable readiness criteria. I identify high-potential leaders early, give them exposure to broader operational decisions, and ensure they receive direct feedback. This creates a deeper bench and reduces disruption when a leadership vacancy occurs.
In a high-pressure situation, I first stabilize the immediate customer and team impact, then gather the essential data needed to isolate the constraint. I assign clear owners, communicate the recovery plan, and establish short review intervals until performance returns to target. Afterward, I document the lesson and implement preventative controls to avoid recurrence.
I would use demand patterns, productivity metrics, attrition trends, launch plans, and local hiring capacity to forecast needs before shortages become urgent. I would work closely with General Managers and recruiting partners to prioritize critical sites, maintain candidate pipelines, and adjust onboarding plans. Regular forecast reviews would help ensure staffing decisions remain aligned with operating demand.
I distinguish between decisions that require deep analysis and decisions that can be tested quickly with available information. For urgent operational issues, I use the most relevant leading indicators, make a clear decision, communicate ownership, and monitor results closely. For higher-risk decisions, I slow down enough to validate assumptions and involve the right stakeholders before scaling a solution.
