Sample interview questions
How would you create an expansion strategy for an existing enterprise Stripe customer?

I would begin with a structured account review covering the customer’s business model, growth priorities, current Stripe adoption, stakeholder map, and commercial timeline. I would identify product-adoption gaps and business initiatives where Stripe can create measurable value, then align internal technical and product partners around a mutual account plan. I would set executive-level milestones, quantify the business case, and run a disciplined cadence to advance opportunities through close and activation.

Describe how you handle a complex commercial negotiation with multiple decision-makers.

I establish the customer’s decision process, priorities, and non-negotiables early, while confirming internal approval paths and commercial guardrails. I keep conversations anchored in quantified business value rather than price alone, use clear give-get tradeoffs, and document agreements and open issues after each meeting. When needed, I bring the appropriate executive, legal, finance, and technical stakeholders together to resolve blockers quickly and preserve momentum.

How do you sell a technical, multi-product platform to a non-technical executive audience?

I translate technical features into outcomes relevant to the executive, such as revenue growth, authorization improvement, operational efficiency, geographic expansion, or reduced risk. I use discovery to understand their strategic objectives and then tailor a concise narrative supported by credible metrics, customer examples, and a phased implementation approach. Technical detail is available for specialists, but the executive conversation remains focused on impact, investment, and risk.

How would you prioritize opportunities across a large named-account book?

I would segment accounts based on current revenue, expansion potential, strategic fit, urgency, relationship strength, and likelihood of execution. I would prioritize opportunities with a clear customer initiative, accessible stakeholders, demonstrable value, and a realistic path to close, while maintaining coverage plans for longer-term accounts. Regular pipeline reviews and account-plan updates would ensure effort stays focused on the highest-impact actions.

Tell us about your approach to working in an ambiguous and fast-paced sales environment.

I create structure where it is missing by defining the customer objective, stakeholders, next actions, ownership, and decision timeline. I communicate risks and dependencies early, make data-informed decisions with the information available, and adjust plans quickly as new facts emerge. This approach enables me to maintain customer momentum while collaborating effectively across internal teams.
